There was a thread on this a while ago. Here is it summed up... -It would be cool ot make mining stations such as the city in the sky from metroid or from star wars that float inside gas giants mining up the gases. - Gas giants do in fact, have a surface you can land on. It's just theoretically impossible. - Off the subject above, some gas giants are just giant seas below the clouds and not solid. - Off the two above, some gas giants are so massive that their solid core actually ignites and starts fusion, becoming a mini-star (the brown dwarf). lots of other nerdy talk happened on what it would be cool to do with gas giants. here is the thread http://community.playstarbound.com/...ng-and-artificial-planets-be-an-option.14039/
I agree. The game shouldn't include or exclude something based on how feasible it would be to do in real life. They should add anything that is fun, challenging, balanced, and fits the general theme of space exploration. Provided they have the time and resources to add it.
I don't agree with the idea of *landing* on gas giants, but it would certain be an interesting option to approch it and construct aerial base like Cloud City on Star Wars' Bespin.
