A small detail... I kinda feel the avian ship may fit the lamia better than the human. Just seems a bit more appropriate thematically.
obligatory debug questions: 1. Have you tried redownloading? 2. Did you: -Unzip the file -Place contents (Lamia_Race) in Starbound\mods ? 3. Do you have a race extender mod? 4. What other mods are you using? You know, you're absolutely right. I hadn't really thought about changing with ship since it's just a placeholder, but since I have honestly no idea how long it'll take me to design and implement the Lamia ship so I might push an update tonight that changes to the avian ship.
I think it'd be neat if the yellow multi-headed snake set had the lower two heads removed, and have them reworked as sleeves. As it is now, it feels EXTREMELY busy.
Oh, believe me, I'm aware. The lowest two heads are actually a craftable cape, but it's still kind of a hot mess. At some point I may add the the other two heads to the cape and just have 1 head helm, 4 head cape. I hate editing sleeves, but that's also a possibilty
If you're referring to this http://community.playstarbound.com/...ended-pleased-giraffe-returning-for-1-0.3091/ modpack, I can't fix anything directly because that mod appears to be broken. If you're not, link me to the modpack you're talking about. Either way, post your starbound.log here
As long as you're running at least starbound 1.0, it should work. If you're still running pre-1.0, I don't think I can help you.
There's one thing you can try(other than updating, but if you update, you won't be able to use the Extended Modpack until IT gets updated): 1. Go to starbound/mods/lamia_race 2. Open player.config.patch 3. delete contents 4. copy/paste the following: Code: [ { "op" : "add", "path" : "/defaultCodexes/lamia", "value" : [ "protectorate1", "protectorate2", "lamiadiary" ] }, { "op" : "add", "path" : "/species/-", "value" : "lamia" } ] 5.save If you don't have a tool to open player.config.patch (I use notepad++), then you can: 1. rename player.config.patch to player.config.txt 2. delete contents, copy/paste what I wrote above 3. save Launch starbound. If starbound crashes, then glad giraffe doesn't like the patch(It runs and works without issue for me)and you can either try to fix it yourself or just delete the mod. If starbound doesn't crash, but doesn't show the race in character gen, I can't help you, and I'm not gonna go out of my way to make this mod compatible with an old version of starbound. If it works, then have fun
Antyrus updated Lamia Race Mod with a new update entry: More Weapons and a New WIP Ship Read the rest of this update entry...
this dialog was supposed to be placeholder, but honestly I think imma keep it on a related note I got tenants working, so you can expect them in the next update.
This is great! One thing I'd suggest is sheer clothing, or like a veil or something; or would that be too hard? I think gold-chain breastplates or something would be cool too. Either way, I love this and I'm hoping it doesn't get abandoned like a lot of other race mods that would have had so much potential! A question though, what would be their cultural theme? As snakes, a desert-type theme would make sense, pretty much like Avians? Though I hope they get a nice cultural twist if you choose to conceptualize one, once you're done with the big features. Hyped! Also I just realized, if you go the hissing dialogue route, The Floran dialogue comments fit surprisingly well! Except for the third person referencing, I suppose...
Transparent clothing like veils should be pretty easy, considering that there's already stuff that utilizes transparency in vanilla(like the miner's helmet). However, I can already tell you that at this stage I have zero consistent themes planned, cultural or otherwise, except for the fact that a lot of things seem to be literally snakes. Even the current ship design is basically a giant snake with rockets strapped to its butt. Speaking of which: These are the first three ship tiers as of writing. Large scale spriting is zero percent my thing(every bit of detailed metallic surface has been cannibalized from vanilla ships), and I'd appreciate some feedback(obviously I need to clean up some of the lines, especially on the tail). This goes for more than just art, too: If anyone has serious concerns about the layout, now would be the time to speak up.
Why not make it slither as it grows? It may be hard to do and functionally perhaps is not a good idea but... in space it looks cool. Perhaps make the spaceship so it looks as if it could move like a snake. Also some scales and color patterns would look great, although the current ship looks really cute. Maybe the best thing to do would be to leave as it is.
You can always make some whip like weapon with the lamina like a weapon that makes their hands (well one hand) into snake and it can lash out and bite inflicting a status effect.
I love the mod, and I love the progress you're making on it. I was wondering if something like this was even possible. I mean, the Florans have a snake pet already, I had wondered if it was possible to make a full on race that utilized that. Come to think, though, I wonder if the socks would be able to replace the legs on all characters, or if there's a way to make a cosmetic leg outfit that replaced any race's legs with the snakey legs... Might have to look into that As for the ship, I'd go something more... Jungley? Maybe go with some sort of historical/time-perodical theme like the rest of the races have (Avians are aztec like, Florans are savage naturey type, apex are super tech with a hint of 1984 theme), it might actually make inspiration for what the ship (and some of the gear) might look like. Sure, right now we have a great "snake" theme, but could having influences from a particular culture help influence the look of the gear and the equipment more? Just something to think about I will admit, I run with EBS (what can I say? I like it), and find it HIGHLY unfortunate (though, quite understandable) that most race mods don't have a compatibility patch (or something of the ilk), so I've spent a few hours making it compatible with EBS (Not EEBS, though, that... Those?... is a whole other beast). This means editing the base sprites as well as the armors. It's been fun, honestly, and not nearly as hard as I expected (rather easy when most of the work is done for you), though I'm going to run into trouble with armors I don't have (I already know the ducking sprite is a tad off for the armors) All in all, great mod! I love that I'm seeing progress on it, and like how everyone who likes it seems to be rather active here.
Hey, I just bumped into your mod, and it seems promissing! So promissing it could be a crime The new ship is good as well, but maybe make it so that the jets are behind the tail, aside that and the tail shadows. Plus it could fit better if you make it quite large and make only two levels, plus... the only parts I don't get are the beams arising from the ship, but I'm not putting it down due to that. Also, I think that you could have deserts, forests, dry-lands and maybe even ocean planets as planets to host them ( because after all snakes can swim quite well). EDIT: The wave sword ( or however it's named >.>), has no energy cost on the special attack. And make a steam version! It will make your mod much more known.
