    What graphic card (GPU) have you ?
    Are you playing Nightly or Beta ?

    I've absolutely no lag with the fog (and I like it very much).

    As @Onirim35 has stated some specs would be nice, as would some info as to whether you are using stable or nightly builds.

    I notice that in either case the assets in weather/fog/fog.weather has this line:

    Code:
      "duration" : [40, 100],
    I've thrown something together that should work regardless of which build you are using that changes this to:

    Code:
      "duration" : [0, 0],
    All being well, this should disable fog. Completely. It's not the most ideal or elegant solution, but should work.

    I've attached the fix to this post. Throw it in the mods folder and you should be good to go. I have briefly tested it to make sure that it doesn't crash (it doesn't). Although I've not tested it on a fog planet. I am not sure if a zero duration will play nice with the engine. So there may be one of two problems:
    • The game completely freaks out as it doesn't like the value being zero, or
    • The game treats the 0 as an infinite, so fog will always be present on a fog planet.
    If either of the two possible bugs are present, go into the newly placed NoFog folder in the mods directory. Next open weather/fog/fog.weather and change the two 0s to 1s. Then save.

    It does seem strange that it's that laggy for you. D:

    The good news is that the devs have been working on some optimisation, so that's something awesome that will land with the next update.

    In the meantime, have you tried disabling vsync? People have reported this has helped resolve FPS issues. It's not an option that's in the GUI, so you will find this in starbound.config:

    Code:
      "vsync" : true,
    Just change it to:

    Code:
      "vsync" : false,
    then save and relaunch Starbound. Let me know how that works for you. :)

    I didn't even know there was fog in the game, I've yet to run across it. Eh, you learn something new each day.

    It may be the GPU, as I've been perfectly fine with the exact same CPU, but with a GT 640. The 520 is a fairly weak card in all honesty, so I wouldn't be surprised if it did have some struggles on this game, even if it doesn't look like it. I still haven't checked out the performance with my new GPU yet, so it could be the processor as well.
