Outdated Kobold Race v0.1 Giraffe Like Kobold

A savage race of unintelligent, but adorable kobolds.

    I can talk here that's fine. I fooled around with the namegen for a bit and tried to get it to fit in the window, I eventually had to remove the "translation" part of the names entirely. The ship, I heavily based off of firefly; I personally don't like the vanilla human ships lol. I haven't added enough to call it a full update, since i'm not really adding any new content atm, just fixes. I can't figure out how to generate settlements properly.

    Settlements are pretty funky. I'll take a look at that (probably tomorrow) and we'll see if we can't get at very least a bugfix rolled out!

    The name thing is something I was playing with to try to imitate Dwarf Fortress style names; a name of some kind followed by a last name put together with two words. I'm totally comfortable with it going over, but obviously lots of people aren't! Perhaps I'll put in my verbose names as an option.

    Are there specific things you are interested in with modding? I wouldn't want to come back and steal your thunder with anything! :)

    I can't even seem to fix the kobold's in the little village you already have to show up %100 of the time. There's been many times I've come across one to have each hut completely empty.
    I figured that'sthe theme you were going for. (used to play kobold camp back in the day) I took a long look at it and there's no way of making that window bigger for names without rewriting a bunch of the vanilla source code lol.

    Well I'm a better coder than spriter, I've tried and my sprites look awful lol

    Yowch, thaaaat sounds like a big problem! I'll take a look at that, in all likelihood it's an easy fix that I had in for testing purposes. I believe last time I was trying to figure out how the heck to have plants planted in the field when you arrive somewhere.

    Represent kobold camp! Love that game.

    I'm kind of in a similar boat, except I'm pretty awful at both of them! I'm hoping to get a bit of free time in which I can rock out some weapon sprites tomorrow, then it can be a bug fix AND at least a little bit of content.

    Current Progress:

    I got the update from WiredWrong with the fixed spears and daggers, Firefly ship replacement, and shortened names. Wiredwrong, did you make that Firefly? I'm not 100% sure whether that should be the default given that it is a bit crossover-y.

    I've taken a look at dungeons and have fixed the rows upon rows of empty huts! Currently you get about 1 empty hut per village, which I also think is lame, so I'm going to fill it with objects before posting. The post will likely have to wait until Monday, because I want to iron out a couple of other little issues I'm seeing, I want to improve the littlehut piece (the single empty hut), and I'm hoping to also get out some kind of armor or item upgrade.

    I could also use a little bit of input on where you'd most like my efforts. I hope to be about and adding things in for a longer swath of time, but I can't be 100% sure, so ideally I'd like to get things made that people want to have!

    I could design another one, I think a friend gave me that one and I just mucked around with the files to put it in for the Kobolds. I wanted to give them a ship that looked really primitive haha.

    well I want to work on cooler effects and some better weapon ideas. Like I want to try to do the wolf/bearclaw energy waves. Hopefully they will give us more tools for better effects.

    Whatever you would feel like working on! I'm (tomorrow hopefully) going to see if I can't roll out some more stuff. I have a couple of ideas that I think are cool to explore.

    I know that it seems a little weird that I'd be looking at odd little side-jobs rather than trying to get the jreengusing main progression done so that I can slap some kind of a 1.x onto the mod. The reason I'm becoming hesitant is I've the Crafting Profession blogpost. This seems to be saying that there will be a split of the top 6 armor tiers into 3 different paths, melee, ranged, and magic. Obviously this will take a ton of reworking on their part, so it may not be coming right away, but it also likely means a rebalancing and reworking for modded races. As such, I'm hesitant to put too much thematic work into these upper tiers. I am going to see about reworking some of the conceptual stuff I've been thinking about into these three paths, so the placeholder may be a bit odd.

    Luckily, I think this sort of works for what I was thinking about anyway!

    One final question: Should I be updating for the unupdated game or for the nightly builds? I tried playing nightly using the mod as it currently is set up and it didn't go through, but if all of the players are going for that version I don't want to disappoint!

    Day got me rather more busy than I was expecting! I'm hoping that tonight (5-8ish EST) I may be able to get either an update or at least an update of what I'm up to.

    I really want to start working on spriting more, I'm rather bad at it currently but I've got a bit of plan to improve. I'm thinking that if I do some work with basic item design (wardrobes, chest, etc) I may be able to actually improve a little in that regard.

    Also, frogs and sitting in spirit tents.

    @CaptainKobold , Got the matter manipulator to work on its own without the treasure file, it is now just made at the workbench so if players don't want to use the MM and stick to your system they can. ^^

    I've recently gotten back into Starbound, and I'm really liking your mod. I'm having some problems though. My quests end after getting the Spirit anvil. Instead of going to the next quest it display the completion window twice. I haven't really looked into how modding works in Starbound, but from what I can tell the next quest should be to make a beaten iron sword at the anvil. This isn't an option, the only thing I can do there is make the Mutt's Sword. I tried removing all other mods and starting a new character, but I ran into the same problem. I'm playing on the latest stable version since the nightly I've tried refuse to run.

    Hey Crew!

    So I've been enormously busy of late (slowly becoming Dr. Captain Kobold), but I'm anticipating a break in the near future! From somewhere between December 20th-early February I'll have some free time.

    What does this mean? Hopefully Space Kobolds. I'm going to try to work hard through that month to get things going as much as possible. There are, of course, 20 some days until then, so if anyone has any interest in specific features or wants to contribute assets (especially art ones!) PLEASE feel free to post in here! I'm going to be tracking this thread again and paying attention to it, so feel free to hit me up!

    Looks like the stable build hasn't been updated for a while still! Part of me is hoping that it does so that I can be sure that I've pulled kobolds up to where they ought to be!
