I'm not sure what to do about the stats not showing up; they don't show any appearance because they function like the armor in the avali mod--you put them in the equip slots and wear vanity over them. They don't have any sprite of their own. I can only imagine that somehow the stats only show up up you have a sprite for the armor.

Well, I do know that sometimes the ds_store invisible file causes issues - especially in Unstable, where sometimes the game refused to even start until I forcibly deleted the files in question that resided in my player and universe folders with Terminal. I don't see how that would mess up internal mod files though, considering that the file only shows up in folders you've actually looked at in Finder, and it wouldn't really affect files themselves. I guess I could try to delete the ds_store files in the mods folder as well at some point, I suppose.

EDIT: I FOUND OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON HOLY FRICK.

Apparently the server I was hosting was looking for mods in a super weird place, so it wasn't detecting them in the normal place where Starbound itself detected them... if I make a copy of the mods folder in the place it's looking for, though, everything works fine.

in short it's the faulty unstable version of the OS X server software and has nothing to do with this mod.

The reason it showed up only with kineptic is because my other mods were mostly visual/clientside and didn't add new items and whatnot.

I'm really sorry for the false alarm.

Long as we figure it out, so we can look for problems with coding in the mod and not just odd server shenanigans, right? :D

False alarm or not, you've done me a huge service in figuring this out, Febilian. With every bit of evidence that my unstable would have worked and this 1 star review was just some charlatan who didn't do their due diligence in troubleshooting, I feel vindicated. There's nothing like being able to look others in the eye and say, "See, I haven't completely lost my mind yet!"

[What Quilavabom had not yet realized is that while he was saying that, he was really looking into the eyes of his own reflection...]

Silliness aside...steel armor, how do I get it? Or do I need to make it on a vanilla race and pass it over to my cat?

You should be able to craft it the same way as any other armor in the game, at the iron anvil.

I can confirm that that works for me and beyond that the titanium armor is in the metalwork station.

I've gotta say, I'm liking this the more I play with it~<3
I'm only on the stable build, so I don't know if there's somethings different in the unstable one, but there's a few problems/suggestions I've got~

    1) spells are a bit energy intensive at lower levels and are under powered compared to craftable weapons of that tier. Trying to take out the robot with the level 2 fire spell was... not fun. T_T I'm not sure if I'm just not seeing all of the spell options or something... but they're just not punching as hard as the should for me. :/
As and idea for the energy, you could have their racial armor be slightly below other race's in armor but have higher energy/regen to it... like wizard's robes. :3

    2) The two crafting tables (plinth and alter) should be tweaked so that they appear in the 'tools' crafting sub-catagory, like other crafting stations do~

    3) the illumination spell is AMAZING. That's not a problem really, I just thought it needed saying~

    4) Would it be possible to change to ward to a toggle on/off ability? No idea if this is actually possible, just a thought.

    1) Balance is not something I'm very good at. I'm hoping the unstable build fixes that, but current testing with Icebelly seems to indicate that the power curve for the pulse spell is too narrow. It could take a bit of time for me to get right.
As for the energy bit, the vanilla unstable armor rebalance takes care of that. The human rubium/cerulium armor has an insane amount of energy compared to the other armor sets, but the armor and health boost is somewhat lacking.

    2) That's something I overlooked that would probably be a nice thing to add in there--normally I just use the search bar or memorize the relative position of the crafting option.

    3) I'm pleasantly surprised at how many people love the illumination spell. I was considering making the light it generates directional so you get the little light beams around the corners of blocks and you can't see through multiple layers of blocks, but I'm not sure if I should now. Maybe have that as the first tier, then have it level up to the current incarnation of the spell? I think that might work.

    4) Unfortunately for the buff spells, they've been taken out of the current unstable version, along with the fire spells. THIS IS TEMPORARY. This whole combat rebalance is really throwing me for a loop, as one might well imagine. Getting the pulse spells as they are was quite the task as it was >w<

Yeah...I missed that because once I had the metalworking station I got rid of my anvil, thinking the metalworking station was backwards compatible. All is well now.

Yeah, I imagine the combat system getting a (needed) overhaul will throw a wrench in your works~

Hmmm... you're saying pulse spells, plural? As in the pulse spell will be upgradable? That'd be nice, because it isn't in the current stable build (the one in the main download link~)

Also, I've picked all through the stable release (the download link on the mod's main page), and there's no "staff-type weapon" in the mod... might want to take it out of the mod's description for now. :x

Also, another quick idea that'd be easy to implement: shield spells that function like shields when used. Visually and functionally, they could be similar to the higher-tier Avali shields~

    Quilavabom Oxygen Tank

Yes, the pulse spells tier up to 6; the final two tiers are crafted at the accelerator table. The staff-type weapons are crafted at the manipulator table. The Separator table will also have a pulse variant, but I haven't gotten to that yet. I've taken a bit of a break until the stable hits and people can't be on the wrong version. Not everyone opts to use the unstable, and even fewer actually read what the compatible version of the release is. I don't want to risk that again.

Thanks for catching that. I've made a little note that the description is for the unstable build, which is technically the most recent available version of the mod.

The unfortunate thing about shields is that they (so far) can't be animated. I'd like to give the shield a ripply effect when being used.

I'm still watching this, just haven't had much time to play sadly.

I'm almost always a lurker on forums it seems, but I do greatly enjoy this mod.

Glad you're still working on it, I've seen far too many good things die out.

A quick question. You mentioned the description is for the unstable build, but where would you download it? I'm currently on the unstable and would love to use the Kineptic.

He posted a link either further up this page or towards the bottom of the last.

    Still a shame that he didn't post it proper anymore because other people are idiots >_>;

Hi Himeki, I wondered what happened to you; glad to see you're still around! Here's that link for the unstable:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/ql4rpdhnryxg8b5/kineptic12_23_2014.zip?dl=0

I don't mind people asking for the link repeatedly; it helps me gauge just how much interest people have. As the sample size of individuals testing the unstable increases, the greater chance there is that issues will be caught (or refuted, as the case may be). So far, everyone who has played the unstable has reported it is working without any problems directly caused by the kineptic. It's quite promising, and if the trend of people asking for the unstable version and returning positive results continues, I should be able to just spit it back out once unstable goes stable.

Just a little update for all you people who pay attention to this thread; I haven't been working on the mod much for a while--I've been practicing drawing things like these:
    [IMG] [IMG]

I've been using the one on the left as a sort of base for what I'd like the kineptic AI to look like. Unfortunately, most attempts I've made at making her into an AI resulted in a blob with spikes sticking out of it.
I've also been doing concept sketches for ships. Unlike the other races that have the ships upgrade, I will instead be making the ship start out full size with "upgrades" being more along the lines of "repairs" to make uninhabitable portions of the ship (such as areas without access to life support) suitable for habitation. This will ultimately result in less spritework, and a smaller disk space footprint for slightly shorter download times.
Don't hold your breath for those things, though; I have a feeling they're a long way off.

Ah, Alright. I thought that was for one of the nightly, and not the unstable. Will try it out.

I like the drawings, I enjoy seeing them even as rarely as we do. :p
I really like the one on the left.

I think the idea of the damaged ship instead of "upgrades" (which don't really feel like upgrades, but more of replacing your ship) sounds nice.

EDIT: To avoid a double post adding quick notes here.
"Butter", "Wooden board (x3)", and "Wooden Beam (x3)" show up in the "Sculping Plinth" (item spelling is correct, UI window shows that spelling instead.) "Butter" is listed as a "furniture" item as well.

I'm not sure if it's something with the Unstable branch or not. But on starting a new Kineptic, it spawned on the planet my other character was recently on. Which was the world next to the starting world (essentially a level 2 planet)
If this is caused by the Unstable branch and I don't know it, ignore this part.

All of those items are in the right spot. I figure carving wood is close enough to sculpting clay or chiseling stone to be placed in the same table.

The butter tray object is not an edible item; it is placed like a bowl or a cup. Butter is sort of a running gag with the kineptic. Observer was helping me with the mod for a while, and one of the things he had the kineptic merchants say was "Some days I dream of butter." I thought this was hilarious, so I made the butter tray. Eventually, I want to make a wall decoration that says "BUTTER" and has stick of butter with beams of light shining out from behind it.

As for the spawn planet thing, I don't have any control over where the characters start. It's likely something to do with the unstable.

Yeah, that is caused by the unstable, my friend who played on my computer started on literally the same start world as me, blocks destroyed and items taken just the same as on mine.

Appreciate the confirmation that it's the Unstable. It seems to lock to the last planet you were on as opposed to saving per character.
My Novakid has fancy curtains in the spinning wheel. I assume it's not saving per character anymore for some reason. Hopefully only the unstable is doing that and not the future setup.

Oh, ok. I didn't expect it to actually BE furniture. And that sounds like an awesome poster/decoration
