    Hello guys!

First, i love Starbound over all and i paid 42€ with my friends for this game. (Thanks for that and if i can, i would buy it again)
But i found somethin today about a keygen and im really piss.ed about that, cause i spend my money for that. Other Kids and stupid guys can buy this game now for free with steam.

I don't know if the community knows about that or if the Big Boss are somethin trying to catch the wrong fishes. Is there something, what you do at the moment for us chucklefish.games? Maybe a tool or something, it's very dumb, many guys get it at steam illegal now. The admins can get the link, if they want it. ( But i think they know it.^^)

    greetings

    a player, who enjoys Starbound.

Keygens are scams. If they really are getting it for free from the steam store, however, that is illegal and has more to do with Steam than with Starbound.

EDIT: Unless, of course, they're pirating which is a different matter and something that is extremely difficult to prevent.

Let me get this straight... you're upset, because other people are pirating the game?

Why does this make you upset, do you wish you'd stolen the game too? - Are you jealous of shoplifters when you pay money at the checkout?

I'm not really sure what you're getting at, you bought the game as a paying customer, that's good right? :/

If steam detect than you got an game using keygen or any things like that, you get ALL your stuff locked, not only starbound.
Also, it is a moral question.
People work on that, this is normal than they get pay for that.

Some keygen programs are actually malware in disguise. To those who find that out the hard way by trying to pirate Starbound: Ha ha!

I successfully pirated Starbound. It's a matter of collecting enough information.

And then I bought it twice because I felt that the game had potential and that supporting the devs would help them achieve that potential.

Just be happy you bought a good game and are supporting some good devs, and that you're not a part of some BitCoin Mining bot net like the Keygen sheep.

Steam Key Generator? Lol, sounds real.

Theoretically, the only way a keygen would work is if the person trying keys lucked into one that has been generated for someone to claim, but hasn't been claimed yet. The keys in this case are generated as-needed, it's not like there's a bank of keys that are pre-generated and given out when requested.

Not sure if the OP is a brainwashed sheep or a person with too much money and too little awareness. ...Wait, those things are redundant. Well, you can still be one without the other, so whatever.

    1. You do not need a keygen for this game thus it is a scam.
    2. Who cares.
    3. Tiy has said people are welcome to pirate it and if they like it to buy it and if not to delete it.

Probably a scam. Report them if you can.

As for pirating, it's fine as long as the person buys the game eventually.

Like said above, who would use a keygen for a game that doesn't even need a key

You can already get Starbound rips on the "usual" sites, no need for a keygen for steam (that probably isn't even real). With that version you can also play MP, because Starbound is DRM-free and not bound to any kind of official server. No matter what, some "usual" people will pirate this game DRM or not, and there is simply nothing you or Chucklefish can do about it.

In other news though, i was surprised to see how low the download rates on those Starbound rips were. Starbound is in the Top 10-15 sales charts on Steam since beta release; it's a massive hit so far, and normally, those games get pirated like a galleon full of unicorns, but that is not the case. I guess most people interested in this game buy it because of the low price, and maybe pirating goes up when the game is fully released.

Anyhow, that is great news! I really like to see Chucklefish succeed with this jewel, and low piracy rates surely helps. And before anyone gets suspicious: I did not pirate this game, and I would tell anyone that buying Starbound is one of the best investments in a video game I ever made. It's good to have full support, patches as soon as they are released, mods right in the Steam Workshop, etc., etc., which is difficult with a rip. So, go get that thing!

I can tell you it is way, way more popular than most steam early access games.

Although Tiy seems to have no issue with people 'trying before they buy', discussion of things such as keygens are not exactly on the up and up.
