Fennekin was my starting choice too. Fluffy fox + fire pokemon = success. And yes, Fenny single-handedly defeated the first gym leader and cohorts and was a huge help against a few other ones. Plus he becomes psychic in later evolution stages. But he's so damn cute in his first form, I didn't let Fenny evolve

I might be inclined to start a second playthrough and name it Bona

 

But Chespin is an invincible tank.
I didn't notice it before but I think I have a thing for grass starters. I picked Snivy and would propably choose Turtvik and Treeco.

I think I traded another pokémon for a riolu before I reached roller blade girl. It retained it's japanese hiragana name.
By the way, do not google Lucario pre-evolution. I saw something I didn't want to when I reached 'pre'...
