Just add an easy mode/cheat codes

It's gotten out of hand, the number of people making threads that say the following:

"Come on devs, let us teleport to planets for free! Having to find fuel for your ship is a pointless grind that doesn't add any gameplay."

"Come on devs, make ore more plentiful! Having to dig and dig to find resources is a pointless grind that doesn't add any gameplay."

"Come on devs, get rid of pixel loss on death! Also lower the pixel costs of recipes! Something something grind something something gameplay."

Developers -- in the interest of preserving your creative vision -- can you please follow in the footsteps of thousands of great games, and add a very simple feature: easy mode? Or how about cheat codes? That way people who want a more casual, accessible experience can have what they want, and people who want a more challenging and immersive experience can have what they want too. Everybody wins.

    Nawh man.

Difficulties are a confirmed thing now, we don't need cheats, you can literally mod/use mods to cheat on your own.

Have they confirmed difficulties? That's good to hear. I checked the latest update on the news page, but I didn't see that. I've pretty much stopped following development since every time I check in, the developers have added some "convenience" feature to appease the endless "please make your game play itself for me so I can look at the pretty colors while I eat Cheetos" threads on these forums.

Take a gander at the home page and look at the recent dev tweets, you'll find it right there :p

    casual players are players too
if a game only caters to casual players it will sink but it will also sink if it does nothing to help them
i think it is an ok balance right now and it is probably super fabulous

And what caters to casual players better than an easy mode? I wonder if you read my original post.

Ahh I see, thanks, I didn't see that part. I'm glad to see the addition of "drop everything on death", AKA "mediumcore from Terraria", as an option, because that was by far my favorite way to play that game.

I still think certain things such as free teleportation (teleportation via some kind of crafted stargate or similar is fine), as well as more plentiful coal/ore, should be governed by difficulty choice as well. Some people want that stuff to be easy, I personally don't.

It's mostly that there's a lot of grind without real fun. But that's because this is still early beta, so people are overreacting. Nice condescension though.

i read your original post thing
i do not like cheat codes that are vague
are they only for fuel and ores
can i put in a cheat code and spawn a xylophone in my inventory
if so, i will definitely not bother looking for a xylophone legitimately because if i find one people will just say "no you just put in a cheat code and spawned a xylophone in your inventory"

    interesting gameplay and frogs probably

but digging is the main gameplay? it's like saying please add more action to minecraft, less building and digging.

once you got the diamond pickaxe / drill and the tier 3 / tier 4 upgrade the game is very fast. with these tools you'll get enough ores to refine them to pixels. don't store pixels, store the ore - no money problems at all.

Is it? With the name Starbound, all the different biomes and procedurally-generated monsters, the per-race descriptions for each item, etc. I personally thought the game was meant to be about boldly going where no Hylotl has gone before, seeing exotic new worlds and conquering them, etcetera. Not about left clicking on dirt until you get the upgrade which lets you left click on dirt faster.

to reverse the mirror, just say it like this: is there nothing more than exploring? why travel from planet to planet to only see exotic stuff - what's the goal? I like that part too, but instead of just conquering them, i gather stuff to build something. Like an archaeologist - search, digg, gather and display.

there is more - not only the travel and explore part :)

This is a reasonable enough suggestion, though the tone and mockery of casual gamers isn't exactly inspiring.

They're not really difficulties, though. From what I've seen they're basically death options for lose pixels / lose items / permadeath. I'd think that a second difficulty option, for things like gameplay difficulty, ore scarcity and loot drops, would go down well.

i see no reason, for cheats etc. there is more than enough ore u can find you need one maybe two hours to left the first sector and after that point u have more then enough pixels. Maybe i would say put Uraniumore on sector 3-4. My personal oppinion is to make the game harder, that you have to travel to diffrent Planets. I played some characters to x-sector and its always the same.

    1. Dig 30 min build everything u need -> Kill Ufo
    2. Build Raffenerie -> farm brain and dig -> Kill Robo
    3. desert planet, dig until u have enough Titanium -> Kill Dragon
4.Build what you need and Kill the Jelly.

Dark Souls is difficult, this game is so easy for the moment

I'm sorry, what does Dark Souls have to do with this game?

I'd at least like some sort of way to store pixels, or make the pixel compressor actually useful. I still want pixel loss on death though. There are some stuff in the 3D Printer that DO need a reduced cost. A Metal Crate costs 300 pixels - perfectly fine, I would say. Could stand to be lowered a little, but it's whatevs. A Primitive Crate costs 650 pixels - Sorry, what? I also feel like the new items they added from the Portal Pixel Printer (PPP for short) could have their cost lowered just a tittle bit. Maybe like 30 or even 40 would be okay. Or increase the amount you get per crafting. A single block for 50 pixels isn't exactly great for when it comes to building large bases.

Nothing in first place but what about this carppy reason, casual players want it easy and fast. That is not true. And i used this example cause many many players want it hard, thats all.
I used dark Souls is extreamly hard and has a huge fanbase. I only wants to explain why I see no reason to make more easier.

after around 5 - 10 hours u have 100k+ pixel thats more than enough (for me)

what do u think about a build only gametype
