For me, it's not that it feels more space-age, but that it feels more like a space-age steam engine train. As opposed to a giant motherboard, this has much more design philosophies of 1800s western steam trains. I think flat, round, shiny plating is important to get this effect as well as the background tiling which reminds me of the obstructing "grey block" walls from Portal.
I for one like the design of the locomotive, probably because it looks realistic and the one used in the mod is taken straight out of the concept art. You go Supernorn!
I dont like the color either, I think red and black would be perfect, that would really give this game a dark and edgy feel to it, as it should have Also please dont horribly flame me for my oppinions nor should you steal them, they are mine and mine alone.

Red train's the best, as they're literally hot, hot-headed, and brash as most teenage male-targeted action anime characters!
I dunno, I kind of prefer the "real" steam train spaceship to the one from the mod. If I understand the general Novakid concept correctly, it's that they kind of wing it where history and technology are concerned, so they're copying things without necessarily understanding why. Because of this, I don't know whether it makes sense for them to make the space-train look less Western-y and more Space-y. Not that the modded train doesn't look awesome, but I'm getting to understand that SB is a bit more lighthearted, shall we say. Perhaps if someone takes it upon themselves to make a "realistic / serious-face mod" then the space-agey train can become part of that.

Close. It's the source series' latest season, Ressha Sentai ToQGer. Which has little to do with Lightspeed Rescue or GoGo-V, besides being Sentai.
It will have a bunch of carriages, I assume - though yeah, it'd be interesting if there are additions to the locomotive as well, somehow.
really great work! maybe the colour of the ship could have a 'relation' to the colour of the novakid in it? just an idea. not sure if anyone mentioned it already but... the "glasses" tileset at the upper back of the hype train!? this is similar to the human ship right? I would change that to something unique //edit upper tiers could be waggons?! xD
