I hope that eighth race will be either the Kalbians, Mantis, or the Grays :"3 that'd be too cool.

 

What I think would be cool would be if you obtained two strange stones from the first boss fight. After finding the gate, holding and using the stones would put them in the missing slots. The faces of each race would then show glowing eyes and a glowing outline . Then the orb showing the Outpost would shiver and EXPLODE into this swirling void, allowing you to go to the Outpost.

 

You know, I completely forgot about the tubbietellies, is that what you guys have been thinking one of the other races could be? I figured Agaran, but I haven't yet run across the tellies in a playthrough yet so they didn't cross my mine =[

I think it would really cool that the first boss would drop two "strange stones" both bearing the Alpha symbol. When equiping and using the stones near the gate, they will appear in the empty spaces. When the stones are placed, the faces of each of the races will open their eyes and reveal glowing eyes. The Orb showing the Outpost will shimmer, shiver, quickly grow smaller, then EXPLODE into this swirling, sparkling, purple and white void that fills the entire gate and takes you to the Outpost.

The missing head is probably the race that created the Glitch (and modified Kluex and his avians?)

 

I want to play a dragon person in the main game. Can we get playable dragon people.

Also, it'd be neat if we had 'undead' styled blocks and props (headstones,pointy fences,crypts,etc)

no, there is a novakid head. the missing one would be cool if it was shaped like the avali race from the mod

actually, that eight hole would prob be in the shape of an agaran. they are a race, not playable, but a race.

There's no need to add a lame and ugly race like the Avali in when you can add something better instead.

They don't fit in to Starbound, and I sincerely hope the devs never decide to force them on the rest of the players.

While I'm usually not this vocal about such things, I agree that the Avali are kinda meh. The art style is distinctly different from the rest of the universe and they're a little over-the-top in my opinion.

 

I like to assume based on all the evidence found so far, that all of the playable races are interconnected somehow, probably in ways that aren't immediately apparent (and we'll find out more about it in game).

Which brings me to the idea that the 8th face slot is probably an obliterated (or perhaps.. assumed to be obliterated?) race that somehow broke the paradigm of the progenitor or creator race that constructed these portals in the first place.

So the last slot could either be
A: reference slot to any/all mod races. Gives them a 'spot' in the cannon without making them cannon in any way, story-wise.
B: a race that 'broke' the rules of whatever grand cosmic game is being played here and were obliterated (or apparently obliterated, as the case may be)
C: A/The progenitor race. --> Seems unlikely that you would announce yourselves on the gate along all the created races. But it could be.
D : Several pieces of lore seem to indicate an attempt to create a new race (the mushroom peeps being a byproduct of this?) and it's possible that their creation was inevitable, but the creators of the gate realized after putting up the original plaque that it would be a bad idea to advertise. Not a fan of this theory either, but it's a possibility.
F: Trollololololol

FYI: The design of the gate makes me feel like this progression system is, itself, a trap. Love it.

UPDATE: Looks like there's a small crack in the human head.. which makes me re-suspect that the missing face is from a race that the tentacles have already eaten/destroyed. So maybe the faces are a intergalactic restaurant menu for them?

 

Anybody know how close we are to a new update?

but i dont understand, we travel on planet tier 1 take the gate and come where ? in space tier 2 ? on planet tier 2 ? with our ship ? how our space ship use the gate ? or without our ship and take a new in tier 2 ?

the gate is a nice idea then, the gate could lead to dungeons, in you can t leave it without kill the boss ? not only for tier but for powerfull item too ?

 

There has been no news on when all this new stuff goes to the un/stable build.
