    Mackinz The Waste of Time

Apparently, no one agrees with my previous argument that I posted...

Is no one else irritated by the prospect of finding random ass structures in places where they really should not exist due to pressure and heat concerns?

I'd at least like to see the majority of structures spawning closer to the surface than "deep underground". It would just make more sense.

    More ideas:
    *Bioluminicense
(that actually drop the bioluminiscent plant or shroom!)

*There are a lot of unimplemented objects, they can give variety (microscopes, and more)
    *Use this objects http://starbounder.org/mediawiki/index.php?title=Category:Decorative_objects&pagefrom=Wrecked Generator
    *An old bridge above lava
    *Statues
*Some abandoned lab with the lights off, and if you press a lever, they get on
*A place used to save money, with a lot of security doors, and alarms and things
*We haven't seen glitch or avian or apex prisons
    *Abandoned ancient cool library

EDIT: I noticed in your image that the floor on the scientist's house is made of a unused block :D I have to find that and collect it

I think it would be nice to find a little community of underground races, perhaps even one you can unlock play for by finding them. but idk i guess im saying something like find an underground mini-outpost sort of thing

Interesting. Finding ancient buildings or crashed ships below the surface would be cool :D

Good job @metadept ! I was sick of birds reverting to the "fly normally" behavior just because neither of us were unable to hit each other for some short amount of time.

    DR.BEES Void-Bound Voyager

It would be great if you could find broken machines that if you accidentally touch or hit it, it activates and you have to fight it.

what i want to find deep below the surface? ruins, maybe buried towns, more horrorfying monsters, unique stuff, maybe something to benefit from digging down to the planets core! atm there's no reason to explore caves.

    Speed Lightning Phantasmal Quasar

Ooh, people living underground seems rather interesting. It appears that this has a lot of potential for interesting structures such as ruins with mummies, or cities with living people. =3

Lots of cool glowy stuff, like plants and glowing drips from the ceilings, and faintly glowing BACKDROP tiles, whatever the light source might be, like lizards or spiders crawling on the background or something (back layer of the map)... explorable smaller dungeons, that are creepy and tight all mossy with cool ambient sounds like echoes and water drops, where we have to dig a little to keep going through, but the HANDMADE WALLS will let us know that it's something special... Glowing fairies that follow you to a certain extent, that help light the way (different colors like purple UV light, wtf!?)... Tameable pets definitely... Underground Waterfall backdrops, and other amazing scenery from the background when the space is available?

I have a few ideas; dunno if they've been posted before as I didn't read the previous posts.

    -Buried Wrecked Spaceship (Moon/Arid/Desert)

It crashed against that planet ages ago and was slowly buried by the elements . It contains the logs of how it crashed, crazy rusted security/utility robots, and perhaps some highly dangerous cargo, that will attack the player.

    -Buried Major Structures. (Magma/Volcanic)

In planets with constant volcanoes and such, it wouldn't be hard for those things built on the surface to end up under it after some major cataclysm. Places like Apex Labs, Glitch Castles, USCM Prisons or Bunkers, etc. These place would look like destroyed, dilapidated versions of their normal counterparts (walls all rusted or cracked, desperate graffiti and perhaps blood stains here and there). Maybe the Apex Lab would now be full of zombie apex (bonus if they still wear their lab coats), the prisoners in the USCM Prison turned to cannibalism and the USCM Bunker's robots went haywire and killed all the humans.

    -Powerful Sealed Monsters (Any Biome)

Maybe the people who lived in that planet ages ago fought against a powerful monster they simply weren't able to defeat, and had to be sealed away in some sort of Altar. It could be surrounded by some ruins of that civilization who sealed it. And when the player arrives, the seal has already grown weak and breaks, releasing the powerful monster that now the player has to fight .

-Ruins of a More Modern Age (Jungle/Forest/Grasslands/Anything with a plant biome underneath)

After digging quite deep you fall into a gigantic cave that houses the remains of a city of an old yet prosperous civilization (Could be the one that created the Glitch, for instance). It could be full of crumbling skyscrapers or vine-covered temples. It will most likely house all matters of technology not available somewhere else, and perhaps some apocalyptic logs of how it all came to an end.

I want to see a dungeon that is basically a huge treasure chest, and I enter via a puzzle that is actually picking the lock to the chest by jumping on stuff/whatever. I then wish to be viciously attacked by all manner of shiny valuable objects, with the final boss being a giant pixel with arms and some weapons and such. Maybe a pixel gun that fires pixels, and every time I get hit by one of em, I lose pixels. Maybe...I can't remember specifically...that pixel printer thing in the spaceship - it malfunctioned and spit out a giant mothership pixel! \o/

    Tamorr Supernova

eh, not really. Then again I am too easily entertained with an overactive imagination to boot...><

It is just not the way I think when the rest of the game is well... Not following earth science to a T, or close to it. I just look at it as starbound science. After all it is a totally different universe and things may work differently than what we would consider science in this universe. And it still being quite influenced to develop its' own sense a WIP; still stands to an individual's perspective on it. I like the stuff personally, and do like some of the ideas you mentioned; just don't agree or rather don't see it the same way.

    jgb_3012 Void-Bound Voyager

Since all large dungeons and towns are above ground it would be nice to do something similar for the underground world as well. Some of my Ideas would include:
    - Underground cities that are built into the sides of the cave walls and ceilings, and connected via platforms (maybe even above and around an underground lake)
    - Underground bioluminescent forests (maybe even inverted ‘trees’)
    - Collapsed and/or abandoned mines
    - (as others have suggested) other core options other than a massive lake of lava (i.e. a lab, city or maybe even something out of “Journey to the Center of the Earth”)
    - Hydroponics farms

  19. Burningfox

    Burningfox Void-Bound Voyager

Would love to see lots of cave towns or under ground societies
Maybe even some crazy geo-front action with towns that start on the surface and have deep elevators reaching down to giant city's.

would also like to see ancient creatures slumbering in deep dark places. Careful or you might awaken some forgotten horror.

    Tiev Subatomic Cosmonaut

Things that matter. Not just fluff. For instance, in Terraria you could find hearts in the underground so it kept me exploring. If all I had to look for were cosmetic things, I might not have gone looking for them. Especially since there is no main hub to show the fluff off without having to invite someone to your "house/realm/server".
