As opposed to just hitting "random" on the star map and picking planet alpha zimbabmutu IV b and making a base there? 0.o

What's the point in playing on a public server if you're just going to pick an isolated planet out in the space boonies and live like a hermit?

I picked Planet Alpha Thanatos A

Yeah, there were no numbers. Just Thanatos.

What's the fun in playing on a server if I isolate myself from the main community? For that matter why avoid the greifers when I can outsmart them?

I said just make a base there, you can totally go back to wherever everyone's playing at when you're done.

200 wood is like 4 trees... 4 trees, and the griefers will never find your stuff, as opposed to hoping they don't dig into cave openings that are too small to fit in.

Then again, I'd probably never play on a public server to begin with, so idk man.

I'd make a maze of tiny passages. Make it a hassle. Make a fake base, too.

How is building useless? Having a home base is great for holding things you don't want to lug around with you, or displaying trophies, or just plain having a place to call home.

How is dungeon loot useless? I've gotten tons of good weapons and ore from dungeons.

I agree it's unfair to call the morphball useless. It does exactly what it's intended to do, even if it is limited.

I know I'm in a minority here but I also don't feel like dungeon loot is too bad at the moment. Even if I don't find something really awesome I'm usually leaving with a lot more pixels and stims or something than I entered with, making it worthwhile. Having the game for almost a week I've found plenty of good dungeons even if a large portion of them aren't great by standards of rare loot. Dungeons are just easy to find, and if they all have something great it hurts need to explore in the long run.

Oh and building is not useless atm, it's just hard to decide on a home planet. The ship is a handy mobile base but some people prefer building their own.

Daggers, pistols, assault rifles, axes, scythes, hammers.

They are all plain worse than swords/snipers because of lack of range and/or knockback in comparison. Not to mention 1H swords are 1 handed and have pretty much the same range as anything except 2h swords. The weapons without knockback are in particularly useless while the ones with less range are useful but not as useful as others.

How? Most dungeons have no loot, and after like two drops from enemies you don't need better weapons anymore. Building on a planet is useless because you can fit everything on your ship without having to spend 300 gas to go back to your base every time.

Useless and you don't like it are different things. My server has created a giant town which is awesome. Remember it is a sandbox game.. there will be many things that only have cosmetic or fun value.

Useless and fun are completely seperate.

    Back-items are useless?
...well, after going into the files and going into the "backitems" folder:
One extends your range of vision.
One is an oxygen tank, go ahead and guess what it does.
    One allows you to glide.
    One converts light into energy.
One "sparkles" and the other "grows flowers".
I would imagine any others simply serve for aesthetics, you can use them over the looks of the ones that actually add functionality thanks to slots dedicated for looks rather than function.
What other kind of functionality would you want that isn't already there?

By fun I mean an item that has no purpose beyond screwing around. For example if they put a candy cane and made towns fold spew randomness. It has no real use and is just to get a laugh for a bit.

If they make a pancake launcher that heals enemies and leaves sticky delicious syrup on the ground that makes it harder to walk, people will probably say OMG SO USELESS WAT IS FUN?

Yeah, duh. But people just want it to be useful too. What's wrong with that?

I'm just going to say, that twin 1-handed swords will lock a monster in place until it dies if you time your clicks so that you're always stabbing.

No, people will say "OMG STOP THAT GAH GREIFERS"
