"It's a beta" is not a reason to dismiss balance issues.

I see a lot of people completely dismissing other people's complaints or comments with the simple rebuttal of "it's a beta".

I just wanted to point out that in the beta stage of the game, it is pretty much a given that you SHOULD be reporting balance issues alongside bug reports. Yes, it is a given that there will be issues in the beta. But if you don't point them out, it reduces the likelyhood that those issues will be found.

 

Reporting yes, constructive critisism. Not complaining or attacking.

 

It does dismiss the people yelling: "OMG GAME SUXX BALANCING SOOO BAD DEVS DON"T KNOW WHAT THEY DOING"

but yeah, you should let yourself be heared and make sure the devs understand that we or an individual is not happy with the way that balancing is done at the moment, but that's a reason the beta is around, to fix those kind of issues and some people seem to be unable to understand that fact.

 

I have yet to see a developer, or anyone from Chucklfish for that matter, openly dismiss and/or attack anyone on these forums.

 

Incidentally, what examples do you have where people dismiss complaints with "It's a beta"?

 

I don't have any examples on hand, but I encounter enough posts where someone decides to say "it's a beta, don't complain about the balance" in a perfectly civil discussion enough to feel like I wanted to make this thread.

Common decency and intelligence dismisses those people.

 

It is a tricky thing isn't it?
It's hard to tell unless the thread maker/poster is VERY specific with their words.
If someone is merely complaining, with no effort made towards any kind of constructive input, those are the posts that do this board no good.
On the other hand, if we're beta testers, we're the process the game must go through to wind through that bumpy development road towards the end goal, a complete, structurally sound game.
So, it's kind of our job to speak up, but we must be very selective in how we do it.
