Would be cool if they actually dispensed soda.

Seriously though that would be an interesting idea, but I liked how it was before when it had storage space. Found with a little money and some food items. Namely canned soup. Don't know why they changed that...o_O

For those of you who don't mind modding to solve your problems, there is a really nice one that ups the storage capacity of almost all storage to a minimum of 48, and many having higher than that.

It also makes all affected storage containers keep all of their items in them when you break them and pick them up.

I have no idea what you're talking about. That post was meant for a different poster who was claiming that laboratory lockers did not have nine slots. I haven't said anything at all about "show slot count in inventory."

Except that goes to the opposite extreme of what the current system is being balanced for -- all storage devices having a similar block-to-storage ratio. Wherein the proposed system punishes people even more for wanting both a nice-looking but efficient storage setup.

Hence why I support the change, because it's a step towards removing the need to min-max storage at all.

How is "every container has 60 slots of storage" punishing the players who want things to look pretty? All containers have the same amount of slots (60) so you can use the prettiest or ugliest container you want and still have the same storage space as everyone else. Min-maxing storage and going for a pretty and well-designed theme for a base is an inevitable trade-off. Maybe I'm having difficulty understanding your response. What exactly would be bad in my suggested scenario of every container having 60 slots of storage? Please give me an example.

if im correct you can scan every single piece of furniture and print it with the pixel printer
... thinking of an pixel shredder (or just use the refinery) > furniture into pixels

They don't give every storage container 60 spaces for the same reason level 1 weapons don't to 10,000 damage to monsters with 40HP. For the same reason every food item doesn't 100% heal and health boost.

Seriously, this is not remotely a big deal, and yes, I made copious use of the Lab Lockers in EK. But between other storage options and ships with a lot more room inside, this minor setback has been more than mitigated.

All I want is a button to sort my inventory and the inventory of my storage spaces. Want hats to be with hats, ores with other ores, etc.

You can scan and 3D print MOST things.

Mind you, I wouldn't mind seeing crafting recipes for most furniture, and certainly recipes for more "common" tiles like Bamboo, Thatch, Soft Brick, Bridge Blocks, etc, using some of the common/easy-to-mine terrain (cobblestone, clay, plant matter).

I don't mind the actual storage space as much as I dislike the fact that in order to deposit an inventory worth of items, it takes me more time to deposit and arrange my collected items than it does to loot the damn dungeon I just got out of.

I've said it once and I'll wind up saying it a hundred more times before they actually get around to developing it, but this game needs the quick stack feature and loot all. While we're on the subject, how do I take off only one item out of an entire stack of items? I have yet to see any explanation on it, you are just expected to know the controls right off the bat.

As far as I know, I don't think you can deposit just one. I know you can select/deposit half of the current stack by right clicking. You can hold shift while clicking to automatically send the clicked stack to storage/to inventory, and it will automatically fill any existing stacks in the destination. Can be used as a faster loot option than the click and drag. That's the best I've been able to come up with

    Shasta Scruffy Nerf-Herder

Yes that's what i've been finding out. I have to sit there and divide the stack by two until it gets down to the number I need. Funnily enough, the reason I don't just take all of a stack of something with me is because it's a pain in the ass to deposit the items back when I'm doing a quest or only need a limited amount of items.

I find that the shift+click function helps a lot, but there should still be more inventory management functions

If a storage block takes up 2x2 space (IE: Lab Locker) and has 60 slots, it has a 15:1 storage:block ratio. If a storage block takes up a 5x5 space and has 60 slots, it has a 2.4:1 storage:block ratio.

Which basically makes the 5x5 storage device a whopping 6.25x less efficient on space than the 2x2 one. Hence, increasing the punishment for wanting nice looking but still somewhat efficient storage. As it currently stands, storage ratios range from 1.2-2.6 storage per block (or 5.5, counting the ship locker), for reference.

It's my most used function, but the problem is when you hoard like I do.

I have to collect any high tech item I run across, my ship has 56 crates that can hold 16 items or stacks of items each, a lot of items look incredibly similar when looking at the tiny icons, so I wind up shift clicking any item in my inventory for every last crate.

I am the most confused on why the prison container was nerfed. It's bigger then the ship locker it should have 60

If everyone is getting more of something, how is anyone being punished? The relative benefit may be smaller for some people, but a small reward is still not a punishment.

If I have ten dollars, and my brother has five dollars, and you give us each a dollar, are you punishing me?
