An idea much like the socketing in DOTA 2, Tochlight 2, and even Diablo 2, but with some adjustments. 1st, the gems and items you will be adding to the sockets in items will not be cosmetic. Instead, you'll be adding gems that give attributes to the item. E.x.: A vampiric gem will add a lifesteal attribution to the item. 2nd, the amount of sockets that an item will have is determined by the item quality. E.x.: Common = 0-1 sockets Uncommon = 2-3 sockets etc... 3rd, The gems should be purchasable from vendors, but at a higher-end price. 4th, The quality of the gem will determine the value of the attribute going to be added to the item. E.x.: Common vampiric gem = 2% lifesteal Uncommon vampiric gem = 7% lifesteal (Note: the percentages can and will be adjusted, just giving an example here.) 5th, Gems will be removable with the help of a hammer of some sort, it will be 1 time use, but the price will be relatively low, maybe as low as 300-400 pixels. Please let me know what you think and what should be adjusted.
Socketable gem ideas......vampiric, Lightning, poison, cold, fire, projectile addition (like an energy ball), and maybe like changing a Guns projectile type
Great idea!, I would love to see this in game also an item to disassemble old weapons to get back some ores and the mods. You might find a low level weapon with a decent mod, disassemble it and put the mod into the better weapon.
I was thinking that the gems could be found embedded in rocks. The chance of finding one would be really low and the quality of the gem would be determined by the threat level of the planet.
also a great thought...... i hope this goes in... i fear though that it wont be for a while because they are still bug squashing
