not sure if this belonged in mechanics or gear/items it sort of covers both When storing items you have collected, in crates chests etc everything takes up 1 space. so a small box holding 8 spaces for example can hold either 8 jackets OR 8000 cobblestone bricks i think it would be good if items had a size requirement for storage e.g jacket, pickaxe, bow, sword all take 1 space but bricks, blocks etc could only put say 50/100 in each space i think it would make storage a bit more strategic
Not all-together a 'bad' idea, though people right complain they have zero room and lack enough of things so limiting how much they can carry and seems like sorta a kick to the balls of those that enjoy hoarding and having things en mass. Also the fact that the gateway boos to tier 2, the robot, requires 105 steel for the robot so you will need to gather 105 coal and 210 iron. so that's 3 slots for coal and 5 slots for iron. Just to store the materials is a full 8 slots. Yes the personal inv is 64 slots, but just one trip around a planet with two dungeons filled my entire inv with weapons and etc. Sure they were all crap but still I'm a hoarder true and thru.
No thank you. If anything the storage containers need to be dramatically increased. Makes no sense that they are 9 and 16 slots. If anything they should be a minimum of 40, equal to a bag for personal inventory space. I don't look for realism for my storage. If realism was used, we would have a 3 dimensional space to place additional crates side by side 360 degrees. Just pretend the "additional" spaces are more crates/chests etc that are simply on the other side in the 3 dimensional invisible space.
i am a bit of a hoarder like you but to be honest i already have to keep extending my buildings just to place all the chests i keep getting so storage is never going to be a problem but it would encourage ppl to build structures on planets as they could only get so much into their ship
