Item despawning

    Dear Devs,

It seems as though items (wood, soil, ores...well anything dropped really) has an extremely short despawn timer, so short that it is impossible to say cut down a tree, cut down another one immediately next to it, and still collect all the wood without some of it despawning.

If you could increase the amount of time an item that can be picked up stays in the world, that would be very nice.

    Thank you

    Sincerely,

    A cave troll.

Is it really so hard to pick up wood logs before they despawn? It's not like you're losing hours of precious game time by doing so.

Suggestion is sound, but your justification is bad. They should increase the timer just because you're too lazy to pick up the logs before you cut down another tree?

Yeah I made a post in the suggestion section about this.

Lost some items because I crafted them and didn't realize my inventory was full so while I went to delete some items I ended up losing my chest to a despawn timer. In the end it was my fault that my inventory was loaded but I would definitely like a little more time. :)

    completely missed the point.

I got his point. I didn't say increasing the despawn timer was bad. I was just pointing out that his reason for suggesting it was bad.

Your counter argument wasn't very good either, why shouldn't we be able to chop down several trees and then pick up the items?

I accidentally destroyed a chest with a full inventory. I lost everything in there and I kid you not, It was gone in 15-20 secs tops. We really do need that timer extended to at least a minute.

15 seconds for a despawn is too small time window to pick up a item while you are fighting, I think that about 30 to 40 seconds would be fine considering there aren't like dozens of items dropped

There is no reason as to why we shouldn't be able to. I just felt that his reasoning was more along the lines of him not paying attention or spending five seconds collecting something that is fairly plentiful.

Basically, I want him to give a better example.

I've had ores despawn out from under me as well due to not being able to mine through the one block stopping my progress fast enough, this is laziness?

In the middle of a fight, if something drops pixels, stopping combat to chase them down is not paying attention?

Pretty much all the suggestions I've seen lately are people bitching at the devs so I figured a polite note would garner a better response. Apparently I was mistaken.

You're judging a community based on the response of one? I'd go on about how that is a huge fallacy, but it wouldn't make a difference.

See, those are better examples that I can get behind. I've had things despawn because I get caught up in fights fairly often. The timer should be extended since there are times where you just can't control what happens.
