I still find it funny people are arguing about this. Let me guess "Pre order canceled they added flavor text oh my god it's colonial marines all over again my faith in the gaming industry is gone. How will I pretend I have created a characters personality now, it's not like I could pretend the flavor text is not there?"

I didn't want to be the one to say it, but yeeeeeeees! Stop being demanding about small stuff... Learn how to mod and just replace it.

I've an idea. It stems from my intention to create a Glitch that was raised by Novakids, or other players' intentions to have characters that act differently from their race's "norm."

Why not choose your character's responses upon creation? If an Avian grows up on a space station with a predominantly Human population, then it will have a more human personality, and it will know the human lore better. I believe the thought of single-race colonies is inaccurate. We're in space, we're allowed to have melting pots.

Picture the character creation screen, and there'd be an "Upbringing" section, where you could choose which race your character behaves most like.

  4. I've never really heard someone complaining about flavor text before. That kind of stuff is really just there for the people that like that sort of thing. (And I happen to be that kind of person.)

If you like role playing your character it could be useful to learn how your character's race perceives things. Or if you like role playing your character you could completely ignore it and loose nothing..

I also think it is beneficial to have a certain amount of separation between yourself and your characters, even when role playing. In other words, don't take your character (or yourself) so seriously!

sounds to me its an observation based of the race not some personality, should not ruin the immersion for me atleast if that is the case.

One thing I forgot to say is that I thought that our character had escaped from the planet before [insert scene] happened. For me this means that the character we're playing as is more tailored to a story based description than a personal one. So if you're roleplaying you should just ignore the feature and physically type what you think it is... even though people already said that.
