You start out with a basic Matter Manipulator, but wouldn't it be awesome to end with a more powerful version of it? Make the MM upgradable maybe? Make it an expensive uber-upgrade, with some laser drilling abillty? Also, seeing as it is called the MATTER MANIPULATOR, how about it being able to telleport the player over short distances? It's an idea that's stuck in my head, and I am VERY fond of the M.M. ...traveling around in a space ship, and using primitive pick axes and 20th century tech makes me ashamed to call myself an advanced Floran... Side note: Did anyone else notice what StarLord is holding on the cover of "Guardians of the Galaxy"?? Allow me to zoom in: Not one, but TWO M.M's...
I don't particularly like the teleportation idea, but yes, I agree completely with the other points. I've always invisioned the progress going back and forth between simple tools and the matter manipulator, gradually upgrading it over time as the player discovers the resources to do so, be it large quantities of materials, rare hard to come by components or both.
I have guardians of the galaxy the modern ones at home and that is star lords blaster a blaster of the elements. but the idea is good really good
I mean, yeah. A light saber is cool. But why would we need to incorporate it in the Matter Manipulator? There are already swords in the game. It'd make more sense for a light saber to appear there than with the Matter Manipulator. Remember, it's a thing that manipulates matter. As I see it, it's not really supposed to be used as a weapon.
I don't know, the plasma-cutter of Deadspace worked wonders as a weapon and is halfway there to being a true matter manipulator, but I agree with you, suddenly making it into a lightsaber or any kind of gun really would just be silly. It would be kind of funny (though redundant) to see you able to "manipulate" a creature until it falls to bits, after all it is made of matter.
Or something similar to what the Gravity Gun did in Half Life. It isn't supposed to be used as a weapon but can be used creatively as one.
Aye, that could definitely be quite fun, though no matter what I think it's impossible to keep it underpowered in whatever function it'd serve as a potential to avoid you ending up with this ultimate multitool which if carried makes everything else worthless.
In the future, the "swiss army knife" has been renamed to "matter manipulator" I can see how turning 12 would be a man's right of passage to receive a matter manipulator... (In my family you get a swiss army knife when you turn twelve)
