I think there should be a "Semi-boss" prefix for threads, because there are a lot of possibilities for mobs that are difficult to kill and give good drops, but aren't exactly a boss, and they dont fit with other normal mobs. Random Large Mobs (mp5a3z's idea)For example, whenever a regular enemy spawns, there is a 1% chance it will become bigger, more powerful, and sort of like a "mini-boss". It would add to the whole "random" idea that starbound uses as a springboard for pretty much everything. (Also, maybe add an extra line of code saying these super-mobs can't spawn for like the first 3 days so beginners have a chance to get good gear before getting pwned by oversized evil penguins)
true in hand, would be mini-boss then semi-boss then the boss, after that is bad@## boss (joking about bad@## boss) it might be called super or supreme boss and lastly Ultra boss make things insanely make the world goes overjoy to see.
Just an add on idea- Random Large Mobs For example, whenever a regular enemy spawns, there is a 1% chance it will become bigger, more powerful, and sort of like a "mini-boss". Pinky, the unusually small slime of the same color in Terraria, is a regular mob with an extremely low spawn rate. It can demolish inexperienced players when they lack strong equipment in early gameplay. Even so, it is nothing like a boss. There is no change in music and it does not drop unique loot. For this reason, I'd think that something rare that is challenging but not really a boss should be called just that- a rare and challenging mob. The idea of a sub-boss is part of level design-- It is not random, but intentional. Even so, I REALLY like the idea of random large mobs that drop more loot.
could be a factor added into the random generation like: Mob has X arms [X = 1/2/3/4/5...] Mob is friendly [yes/no] Mob is giant [yes/no] etc etc or something like that
I support this idea. To add more than just my vote, I think a mini boss could be generated through more than just size and raw stats. Perhaps if they have varying AI, a red-eye version (If it didn't already have red eyes) could spawn rather than a giant one. The creature would have far greater speed and a better AI, along with minor changes like higher damage and health.
Sweet and simple. No special abilities, no extra attacks. I like Pinky, though. He was extremely easy to kill, even for new players (just spam copper pickaxe), and the gold coin gave you a boost. Sort of like that, the mob won't need any higher level of skill, it just takes a little longer to kill and drops more of its normal drops due to difficulty and rarity.
Oh no, what if this applied to bosses 0_0. 1% chance of a boss being bigger, stronger, meaner >_>. I like this
wouldnt that just lead to the stomache? hydrochloric acid is not very pleasant. a concentration of 2.0mol.dm is an irritant i think
Mini-boss? Or like mmo legendary creatures with special designs outside the name, if you know what I mean.
