Ok, so I just discovered that my chests n shit are still missing and not full properly and someone here has some explaining to do because even the hotfix didn't fix. Someone fix pls. Hold on while I check my mod, a storage size change didn't take.
So wait, i haven't started up Starbound in a few days, so i haven't downloaded anything. So should i wait for the next update? or is there no helping it and I'm gonna loose all my diamonds and titanium (T.T)
I thought I was fine when I loaded up my client earlier, it took the update but had my things. I quit and updated my server I play on (private VPS) and after updating and loading back up, I lost the stuff. I was able to save what was left on the ship, quit, flush the shipworld file, and get the locker and hatch back, but I lost everything in the locker and all the fuel. =/ This doesn't bother me too much, because all that was in there was a few items, all of my old tier weapons and armor, and fuel (had extra uranium/plutonium on hand to fix) but I lost the boss drops, and since I lost my robotics table somehow in that bug too, I have to build a new robot to beat and get that back. =/ My question is, I kept a BAK version of the shipworld file in my save. Sadly I did not get to backing up my shit sooner. Copied to Dropbox and enabled shadowcopy on that drive for the future, but are those items truly gone, or are they still in the file? Mayhaps there is a way to get those over to the new shipworld file? If not, that's cool, at least I have my character and I didn't lose progress, but I'd like to know what I should be looking out for in the future. I don't quite trust those lockers anymore. Would like to have more on-hand storage so long as that stays mostly bulletproof. Edit: For shits and giggles, I grabbed an old copy of my shipworld from my living room PC and loaded it. The bug of course is still in effect, no locker, but my robotics table is also missing. Does not having processors from the Killer Robot drop nullify you having a Robotic's Table present?
If you have a functional backup, it SHOULD still work SOMEDAY IN THE FUTURE assuming they ever FIX THIS. It is NOT FIXED. I repeat, your bug is NOT FIXED! It has been two days and your bug is NOT FIXED! FIX IT PLEASE. Seriously, Starbound Staff, I must ask you to please, PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS SANE, spend FIVE MINUTES playing the ACTUAL GAME before you release any patch! If there's a problem this big, you'll find it and fix it instead of sending it to everyone and deleting hard work.
I still haven't touched Starbound, I REALLY hope this is their top priority right now and they fix it soon, I want to play again
You can play a new character and just cheat in the minimal things you want them to have. If you were collecting vanity, you can continue on the new character and just merge the items back together later. Have you tried some of the other races?
Yeah, I've played them, still like Human the best, although Avian and Glitch are pretty cool. I MIGHT start a new character, not sure yet though.
I like the proposal that this should be considered an alpha, not a beta. If I had this issue and wanted it fixed, I should post the bug: describe the situation, provide the log, and basically give whatever constructive info I can to help the devs fix the issue asap. But why would I bother do to that when I'd much rather just vent my frustration and dish out the blame? And if the problem isn't fixed efficiently, I get to blame the devs and I have another thing to vent my frustration about. After all, that's clearly why I'm playing the game at this stage. Now I understand the version names, Enraged Koala, Furious Koala, ... They knew.
I now it has been said but after working out some of the crate and fuel issues, just wanted to bump regarding that the home functions do no work an also still unable to travel to alpha system.
I don't have a "functional backup" as I only fired it up to test that my updates to mods worked and Steam had autodowloaded, so I'd figured it was too late to back up the whole Starbound folder which I usually do when I know an update is coming. This is why many games do a single .bak of player data files AUTOMATICALLY, so at least you have a one save chance to overcome disaster. I'm usually pretty level headed, and can handle wipes, but these kind of partial screw ups to a save file with 60+ hours of play into it are just soul crushing "well, what now?" moments, where it's nearly impossible to decide whether to trash the character and self-wipe, or continue on with some fragment of items you've been hoarding and making plans for just missing. It just feels like the gameplay equivalent of having a large cactus jammed through your rectum. I know I'm not gonna touch the game for a week at a minimum, maybe longer. Very, very disappointing. I was totally fine with waiting for Furious with the idea that it'd be done right, and it was. Speed of "new shinies" even in Beta should NEVER be at the risk of these kinds of moments. I doubt it's enough to make me set down the game forever, but it's happened before. I'll see how it feels after a week.
The issue here is that I collected EVERY SINGLE OBJECT IN THE ENTIRE FREAKING GAME so that I could build a custom adventure map. Aint no easy way to replace 1,536 different stacks of now-missing objects.
I'm also screwing over enough stuff that I can't get my mod to work with any other mod... but w/e I'll look into it.
It had been 1 day. Also, Hawk Novablast, i completely agree... I was really looking forward to playing tonight and had hoped the issue was fixed
Hey, I didn't catch the warning until Starbound was in mid-update. I quickly copied all of my player and universe files to my C: drive before the update actually finished, but does anybody know if that would have saved my containers? Did the update corrupt the files themselves, or did it just have a display error in gameplay that autosaved a world without containers?
