Is this a decent Pixel bird?

I was drawing this for my brother in Paint.net (He's five), because he absolutely loves cockatiels (Like me!).

Good, but could use some noise (Slight variations in large expanses to create diverse lighting effects... makes it look pretty :))

I'm not sure how to do that in paint.net though... thanks though!

Reminds me of the cockatoo I used to have as a little kid. His name was Buddy, and I loved to watch him. He could say pretty boy! He sure was :)

Your little pixelization looks like some kids face on a bird though. Which unless your going for macabre and creepy, I dont think is what you want

I also love cockatiels. Actually, I love Cockatoos in general, living in Australia.

  6. Use a different line color, preferably a darker version of the base color beside it.

I'm new to pixel art, so I'm not very good at it. It was for my little brother.

  8. You're fine. I'm just giving you advice as a fellow artist who wishes the best for other artists.

Its great, just add a couple lighting effects, maybe darken some parts of the face or wing.

It needs more shading to provide additional layers to the bird. You need to keep in mind the areas of highlight (Where the light makes first contact, and is the brightest) and shadow (the darkest).

Once you establish that within any work of art, it'll feel more "full".

its easy i use paint.net so ill tell you how go to the top and press Effects/noise/add noise
then move the slider to adjust the intensity, colour saturation and coverage
