is there anyway to use mods on private servers?

Me and my friends want a new experience so we thought we would add mods. I don't know how to add them though?

 

Just have everyone add the same set of mods and it should work fine. Currently, the process for modding a server is no different than adding mods for a client, as the server uses the same set of files. If you don't know how to add mods to the client, then you need to readup on instructions in the modding section. There are dozens of guides available. The key point is everyone should have the same set of mods installed.
