Is there anything to do with most of my loot?

I tend to hoard everything I loot, in general - even knowing that it's early beta and there's probably gonna be at LEAST one more character/save wipe, I tend to collect everything I can.

But this means I'm very quickly finding myself with TONS of stuff, and I was wondering what types of things are worth keeping and what's not.

I'm keeping furniture and blocks, of course, in case I decide to build something cool with it all, and I'm keeping anything else that seems useful - but is there any reason to keep, say, random crap weapons I found in chests on Alpha planets, when what I'm using is a lot better? Can I melt them down, or sell them, or do anything of use with them, or should I just trash 'em?

At this stage of beta... Trash 'em. Unless there is some super secret vendor you can 'sell' stuff to all of that crappy gear just takes up space.

I for one, would like a Mr. Fusion from Back to the Future on my spaceship so I can chunk all of my garbage into it and get some fuel.

You can just trash the weapons for now. I'm sure we'll be able to sell them eventually, maybe even break them down into resources.

As far as furniture / decorations, you can just scan one of each of them into the 3D printer, and the scrap the rest, and print any of them you want later.

    Mr. Fusion would be awesome!

A vendor that actually BUYS things would be awesome too, but hey, my luck's only gotten me vendors that don't buy OR sell :p A whole Glitch village with a dozen vendors, and not a single one with any inventory :p

.... good to know about being able to scan things, too - I'm still early-game-ish though (I go REALLY slow in games like this), so I may keep SOME of it. But it's good to know that I can scan the stuff I'm unlikely to use, just in case I want it later :3

EDIT: Most of the furniture and such that I've found doesn't seem to be scannable. Guess I still gotta store it then, if I want to use it laterX3

This reminds me... I wish they made some containers have more slots...

I just want my large-as-a-biome cabinets to have more storage space than a foot-sized chest! I think all storage units should give slots based on the number of in game units they take up when placed. It can be mathematically calculated, and would also make them much easier to understand.

I think a large chest should have 32 slots, since small chests have 16. I hope they implement larger storage spaces later. Even fluff-wise it doesn't make sense to have them all the same...

There should be a switch on the 3D-printer to make it unprint stuff like weapons into pixels.

This. Right now I'm using laboratory lockers for storage almost exclusively just because they're the smallest container I can find with 16 slots. And there are some larger storage items with just 9 slots, which makes absolutely no sense. I have enough furniture to fill a large house shoved into a locker but I can't fit it in a "small crate" that's larger than the locker?

That would be nice. Or something, at least, to make it worth picking up this crap weaponry to start with, when most of it is worse than the earliest craftable stuff you can make.
