Is there any way to stop the cold apart from the campfire?

Hi all, great game. I've been digging fairly deep on the first level and am now getting cold a lot quicker. Apart from making several bonfires, is there anyway to permanently stay warm?

    Thanks

It seems once you get better armor you become a lot more resistant to the heat, but other then that i am not sure.

I found torches and caves seem to increase your warmth at a slower rate

  4. Anything with fire will warm you, including torches, campfires, and furnaces.

Additionally, certain crafted clothing will warm you / slow the rate that you lose heat

I belive that indoors torches/fires seem to retain the heat output a lot more than if they where outside, also being inside a building or cave will also reduce heat loss.

torches are cumulative when it comes to warmth, so two torches next to each other actually warm you twice as fast as just one torch. (it did this last time I was playing, anyway. So many changes happening and going to happen, so not sure if it stays in or not)

You can craft Snow Infantry armour with Leather at a Yarn Spinner, which will give you lots of warmth. Currently with 2/3 pieces of the set (Chest & Head) I can survive on a snow world at night when it's snowing without becoming cold.

    Pants: 10 Leather
    Helmet: 8 Leather
    Chest: 15 Leather

For a total of 33 Leather. Each piece gives 13 armour too, so it's a pretty good investment.

Heat sources like torches, campfires and furnaces generate heat, with the larger fire the more heat generated, and the effect of multiple heat sources close together stacks.
Certain armors are more warm than others and will reduce or even prevent heat loss.
Being "inside" a building/cave by standing in a spot with a background wall is considered a less colder area than being "outside".

So on most planets just putting down one or two torches or wearing a single piece of snow clothes is more than enough to protect yourself from cold, while on other planets you will need proper clothes and to carry a campfire with you so that you can place it down when you are at risk of freezing to death.

They're balancing (nerfing) that in tomorrow's patch, though, since they made a mistake and made it horribly overpowered (30% better than silver armour for a fraction of the cost).

I remember the original intent was coming up with a set of armour that would protect from the cold very well but have not-so-hot (geddit?) actual defense. I like the look of it, though: probably inspired by the snow gear rebel troops wore on Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back.

there is a strange thing going on, though

when you're on a hot planet, going indoors is cooler, and might actually be too cold at night

when you're on a cold planet, going indoors is a bit warmer, however it might not be warm enough

also, beds with sheets provide some warmth

Hey don't hate on camp fires. Three camp fires are enough to keep you warm in the cold vacuum of space. No joke.
