In my crusade to work out male and female NPC spawners, I opted to go with using armor files to cover the body to make it look like a specific gender has been spawned. Since my mod race has three sub races (with only three skin tones) I decided to attach the the corresponding skin tone of the body to the armor files for the only the NPC spawner files to pull from. The problem I just ran into is that if it spawns a female for the male spawner, and vice versa, part of the original body that it spawns will be visible at the edges (due to varying widths of my male and female chests). My question is if there is any way to mask the body, kind of the way the .head files reference mask files that mask the hair? I realize that there are a few other ways around it, like ensuring that certain parts of the body are always covered with clothing on the NPC, though that does provide limitations to what NPCs can wear. Then there's editing the male and female bodies a bit to ensure they don't overlap, but even that is tricky and compromises the look of each gender in some way. Ugh, you'd think there'd be an easier work around to making a specific gender spawn... Anyway, any help or advice is always greatly appreciated!
If there isn't, there really needs to be. It would make spriting new equipment a lot more flexible. It really sucks when you finally get something good going, but when you load it up in-game you notice a bit of arm poking out and then you have to make ugly compromises so it fits over the default model. Hope you find something that works for you.
