Is the Winter Update 1.0?

We all know about the update coming soon. I was wondering if this update is going to be "1.0" or just another stepping stone along the path.

 

I think just another stepping stone. I haven't heard anything about a 1.0 release yet.

 

Based on what's in the nightlies I don't think we're ready for 1.0 yet.

it was going to be but everyone whined that the update was taking too slow so they are releseing it early

No 1.0 for now. In fact, that winter update will hit unstable first, and after some feedback from the community, they will push it to stable.

 

I honestly don'T know, but one thing is for certain: Starbound is getting absolutely amazing.

IT started out so small, and now looking at that winter update was pure heart warming. I am really happy with the developers and their constant support for the game. And ho boy... I cannot wait for all these goodies to make it to the stable branch. Maybe then I'll be able to convince my buddy to re-host our Serious RP server.

 

I don't think it is. It's close though, as major parts of progression should be done.

 

It's definitely not 1.0 unless they're trying to completely surprise us with fossils as they haven't even been mentioned recently. That and all of the menus need to be overhauled still (that's just my opinion and I doubt that will happen ).

Starbound MIGHT be in Beta as of the winter update.
So far, it's really been Alpha...

 

You forgot to add that this is just an opinion. Beta, Alpha, there is no line between these anymore. Sooner this is realised, the happier most of us will be (in my opinion)

 

True.
The main problem is people thinking early access beta means the game is mostly finished, and is actually in a playable state.
Sure, usually it is nowadays, but sometimes the developers are just being nice to let people in so early, or they want player feedback/bug testing.

Nobody HAS to play pre-release versions; you paid for the final product anyway.

1.0 is slated for some time in January if all goes according to plan. Of course always apply a big margin of error for announced dates.

 

Did you link to the wrong tweet?

All he says there is that Stable (in other words, this new update, which is not 1.0 but just the next version) is slated for January. He never mentions anything about 1.0.
