He is right... somewhat, the clauses is right here:

    as well as

And also no you can't just delete your account to or otherwise terminate the contract to remove this clause, it survives indefinitely as listed here:

HOWEVER, Valve cannot sue you because of this agreement as well (as long as you or valve aren't breaking the TOS in the first place) in dispute because of this clause under section 12:

So yes, you are giving up your right to sue for arbitrary reasons like if they decide to delete your account and not compensate your purchases, however you may still sue if Valve preforms an illegal action using the TOS, because all clauses in contracts are null, voided, and terminated if the contract is being used to support an illegal action.

I want to add that by deletion I mean that if you did not agree to their terms of service they would threaten you with the deletion of your account.

oh. so basically its saying like "you cant sue, we cant either. well work it out together" so they cant sue you and you cant sue them. that seems fair.

  5. Blame Bill Gates for personal software licencing?... Just think about this, you've never actually owned any software you've purchased, you own the "digital rights" to use said product. Now all DRM systems attempt to do is keep people from pirating games they should be buying in the first place. Steam offers a solid platform for companies to distribute in a DRM environment that seldom limits the user (none of this "installed only on 3 PCs" crap). It's more friendly than half of the Microsoft DRM systems out there (of which so many windows users abide). I don't believe that everything should be under DRM, but I don't think we should condemn Steam as they are one of the few reasonable DRM systems. In the end it's up to the developer to decide on distribution, so if ya don't like steam, don't play it till the second part of beta.

Okay this topic got way out of control, Honestly guys It does not matter that much the OP is not even on the topic anymore. I would say the best bet is for everyone just to let it go and go back to Staround.

This thread is waaay off-topic now. The beta is already out, the OP's query resolved, and now we're just discussion the terms and conditions of Steam. Might lock it.
