I was wondering if the Starbound game was worth getting, so I am asking the starbound community if it is worth it to buy the game, I have already seen part of the game, I just need that extra push.
So all the people that see this post, tell me about your thoughts, and do not hesitate about posting pictures about your favourite moments.
I am sorry if I don't please you as a post as this is my first post.

    Thanks

  2. You're going to be getting some biased opinions, considering this IS the Starbound forums. Just a heads up, bud.

Regardless, the game has its ups and downs. It's playable in its current state (certainly far from unplayable), but the final product is said to be drastically different compared to it is now. Everything's a little bland at the moment (combat, NPC interaction, lack of quests, etc.), but that's hypothetically going to be fixed to an extent in the next patch. There are also a plethora of mods that can keep occupied with the current game as well, if that tickles your fancy. Keep those in mind when/if you buy it.

As for me, the game's certainly been worth the price I've payed for it thus far. Managed to put in some hours in-game as well as cooperate with a friend and made two mods.

Lastly, welcome to the forums! We may have a few rough parts around this board, but overall we're a pretty welcoming bunch. Enjoy your stay.~

When I played through Starbound, I found it to be a extremely fun game with tons of capability to be a great game. However I felt like something was missing from the gameplay, like combat (which is getting done in the next update). For example the bosses weren't to fun but besides a few things that I feel need tweaks it is a very fun game with great potential. The building is very fun, as there is tons of furniture choices and blocks and with the power of the 3d printer it makes getting furniture items even easier. I love the variety of building blocks in the game. Also I really like all the lore in the game, which I am very interested in. Starbound also has lots of biome diversity which makes for interesting sights. There are lots of other things in starbound like the cool vanity items. Overall I find the game as a very fun experience and with more updates coming soon I'm sure it'll turn out as a great game for you to spend your money on. I hope my post convinced you to get starbound!

Yes, I would definitely get it. Once you complete everything there really is to do, there are tons of mods out there to satisfy you until release. Mods add lots of depth into the game, especially helping it now since as of the moment it's more of a tech demo than an actual game, although there are fun things to play around with when you get the game. If you find yourself getting bored, hop on over to the mods and install, install, install.

Dragonith pretty much said exactly what I was going to say.

If you don't think you can enjoy the game when it's missing some pretty major parts (even though it's 100% playable and has quite a bit to do) then don't buy it yet. I've personally spent a few hundred hours in the game, and a big part of that is due to some of the pretty awesome mods you can find already. It's definitely going to be more enjoyable in it's current state if you have someone to play with as well.

  6. If you need the money or have something else you would like to buy, go ahead and wait. if not then buy it and play the hell out of it.

No, not in its current state. Maybe it will be, maybe it won't.
Buy it if you have money to burn, or you want it at a lower price and are willing to take a risk.
    Otherwise, wait till it's finished.
    ----EDIT----
Also if you want to get involved in the community early and see how the game evolves.
That's another reason to buy it early.

I think the game is fun and it is quite playable, however you might want to wait a bit till the end of this update drought, it has made a lot of people uneasy and is making perspective buyers nervous. If you can handle the fact that it is not known when the next update will be at the moment then go for it, but if that makes you nervous just lock the money in a safe to protect it from steam sales, add a link to playstarbound.com to your desktop (or subscribe to the RSS feed) then wait till it feels like a more secure investment.

Also yeah @Dragonith Is also right that a lot of things are not in the beta yet (and in the case of Novakids, pets, fossils, and storyline quest will not be in the game until post official release if the plans have stayed the same), so if you really want those you can wait until things you want are added or just wait till release or sometime around when everything will be in the game.

Juice Box wants to point out that Starbound is not yet finished, and that if there are any finished games that you would also like to play, then go ahead and play them instead, (just make sure to come back).
But if you have spare money then Juice Box definitely does recommend this game at the current time.

Depends on what you are looking for, and your definition of worth. A very subjective question that only you of course can truly answer.

It is like any other game, each has their crowd, perks, and disadvantages. Since this is still in early access beta stage 1; Really if you have some patience, then you can await and wait for the updates.

What the game is about is all over the place, after all you tube has a few videos of game play from various people. That right now is the only way to tell without buying it, whether it is for you or not. There is info all over the place. I would just suggest look into it all to come to a decision.

Right now it is in the middle of a big change, and that change has not happened to the most stable version yet. It will be different than most the let's play of it out there, when more complete. So as is it is playable, yes. I think at this point if you are willing to be keep perspective and a calm composure you might be able to handle the beta part of it. Patience is a good thing to have for any beta really, but like I said really just read into it so you know what this is all about first. Research, then decide. The only best way to go about it.

Well that is what I think.

I like it as is personally, but I also like what they are going to change it into; basically their goals they have mentioned it to be in the end. Reason I own it as it is something that fits the style of games I like & enjoy playing. :)

"Like" that is. That means, no matter how dissatisfying the experience was and how much you'd just like to forget it ever happened at all, you'll still remember me for the rest of your life.

It is definitely worth it. I think the most hours I have on any one Steam game is on Starbound (although a lot of it was probably afk since you can't really pause). Mount & Blade: Warband is coming very close though.
