Is Snow Infantry better than silver armor?

I spent so much time looking for tons of silver to only realize that snow infantry has 13 armor and silver has 10.

Is this right, something easy to acquire like leather makes better armor than silver?


Or is it only 13 armor in snowy areas?

When does snow armor appear? I don't think I got the recipe until after defeating the UFO boss, so there's that. Also, I do know leather was changed to uncommon in the last patch, I don't recall finding nearly as much of the stuff as I did before.

 

Leather is uncommon yeah, but half hour of hunting monsters with an iron bow on a tier 1 planet should give you all the leather you need.

 

But when does it actually appear as a craftable item? I don't think I saw it until tier 2.... but I could be either misremembering or didn't look closely. But I do recall getting a lot of leather and trying to find a use for it but not seeing anything.

 

I'm playing as an Avian - I'm unable to summon the UFO boss to move past the Alpha stage due to a game glitch (the beacon does nothing) - but already have access to the snow infantry gear. It randomly appeared on my spinning wheels crafting list.

 

Make sure the beacon is in an area that isn't covered, and you have to press "e" on it to activate it.

 

I crafted mine before fighting the ufo boss.

 

Highlight the beacon when you're close to it and press e

 

It becomes a craftable item when you decide to make the the spinning wheel.

I'd also like to point out to everyone that the robotic crafting bench has a racial tier of armor that is strictly made from durasteel and is far better than platinum, or the the racial armor made from plat and titanium.

 

they added in the last patch, but it was suppose to be warmth at the expense of armor i thought. I made mine after crafting copper armor and im still wearing it as I cant find enough damn gold to make gold armor. I think im just going to wait till todays patch since we're more than likely getting wiped. Sucks so bad. I know its beta, but its different when you have already payed for the game.

I like the armor lol. Trust me, its not even OP. I wear that, and a combo of steel armor, and get 15 armor, and still get shit on most of the time in the tier 2 worlds. They added it in to help people get through the earlier levels easier for beta purposes. Don't bitch about it, just enjoy it while it lasts

 

I know that - but I don't recall seeing it there before when I had to make bandages using fabric

I'm gonna miss my snow infantry armor. Although I will forever use it in the visual slot
