Is it just me?

I was thinking of posting a "beeeep? BETA CONFIRMED" comment on the update, but I decided not to. Looks like someone else did it for me.

My fingers are crossed for beta release date announcement in june newsletter.

 

We are somewhat in the dark as to the progress, but to say we have absolutely no point of reference would be inaccurate, we have the roadmap and the updates since the roadmap. Now obviously we can only speculate on their exact progress as there may be many loose ends to tie up that are not specifically enumerated on the roadmap.

 

Have to agree, and add they just got done doing a complete physics overhaul. There is still a lot of stuff they consider boring to do and most of what they show us everyday is the flashy bits it seems like. Only now and then when one of the coders or others got their hands on the update did we get the curtain pulled back a little. It'll be awhile.

Unless they decide to get the UI/Crafting/Player controls in and give us a very rough beta. Unlikely though.

 

Most of what we CAN go on is the completely arbitrary "70% completion" of the Roadmap, where it could be now, and the fact the Roadmap won't be at 100% when the beta is released.

That's our best frame of reference.

 

oh yeah, the roadmap. totally forgot about it.
altho i dont consider it a real benchmark, they already said everything in it was approximative and that "10% in a category dosent mean the same 10% in another"

so for real progress tracking, the roadmap dosent count to me

Different microwaves beep various ammounts of time, I've had them beep three times, or just once. I've also ohad microwaves chime instead. :catface2:
Beep was most likely was just a fun SciFi robot-type thing to do, or a transmitter turning off.
or MAYBE it was code for Beta = next week!

Questing not done, server stuff not done, team UI and management not done...We are not as close as you think.

 

Plus it said they were finishing up to Avian intro. There are 6 other races still to do, and we don't even know if ANY resources have been made for the Novakid at all. Once all the systems are in place for it, the others will be faster, but art still takes time. As much as I'd like to get my hands on Starbound, probably almost as much as they'd like to get it to us, I fear we may have some time to wait. But beta is closER!

 

again, i believe questing is a post-beta project. factoring out quests and missions, the roadmap is more than 70 percent complete - however you'd like to interpret that.

 

Mh, going after the definition of a beta, this won't be the case. A beta is, in most cases, meant to be feature complete...Well, games like Minecraft kinda changed this definition and many games that came after it. But going after the original task of a beta, it just exists to iron out bugs and stress test servers and stuff like that.

 

You all want the BETA!!! Well I want the ALPHA!!! Now!

 

I forgot where I read it, but somewhere tiy said quests, missions and storyline won't be in the beta. Maybe someone can help here.

Actually I am waiting for the Kappa version of the game.

 

The basic storyline and quests will be in the beta, also randomly generated ones too!

Mh alright...But I guess we have to incorporate the possibility of the devs chaning their minds anyway, so there's no way around just being patient.
