So after a while, I started playing starbound again after the beta and I find durasteel much harder to find than most ores is it?
You find it in radiated planets, underground or in crates/chests etc, i personally find them easier to collect in the gnome towns if you're lucky enough to find one, but most towns have a good source of it. But, you can always do the ursa miner mission to get that teddy bear or something, then you can get all the bars.
Mining is hard. Walk around the surface on an irradiated planet and you'll get tons of ore in crates, chests, etc. Durasteel is needed in huge quantities though for mechs and stations, so it's a bit more frustrating because you need so much more.
