The devs stated from the start that the game was procedurally generated. The problem is that people think procedural generation means everything will be random for everyone.

As for sharing the universe with other people, I'm not so greedy that it bothers me. Plenty enough space for everyone. Rest assured, the universe is sufficiently vast enough that you will be exploring places no player has gone to before.

Guns, well it's called videogame progression. Be patient, good things are worth waiting for.

The monsters I'd say you have a point about. There are just a few types of monsters and they do mostly look and act the same. But it is what it is, and it can be improved at any time.

The monster type generation isn't necessarily going to stay the same through the entire game's lifespan. They can always add new parts to the generator, creating thousands of more possibilities. It's a beta. Don't give the devs grief over something that is VERY amazing so far.

OK guys here is the thing I can not find a post by devs that said what I thought they did. I was thinking it was in the about section of the home page but it has been updated seance beta has come out and the wording is different. so I have no proof to back up my claim. I am sorry if I seemed like someone who did not know what he was talking about and I am sorry for wasting all of your guys' time, I would like to thank budsygus for making me think maybe I should check out my facts.
    Sorry for being dumb linukboy

Don't worry too much about it. You had something you were unhappy about, and you expressed an opinion. Hope you find more about the game to enjoy!

I disagree with you. You likely were internally hyping the game past realistic expectations. It's pretty much as I expected it to be and pretty much as it must be. More contents and generators will be added certainly, but you need to understand two things:

1: Algorithms to fully generate a random 2d creature and animate it, do not exist, anywhere. Making that would be nothing short of a scientific breakthrough. So necessarily random creatures must be a random combination of premade parts.

2: To a lesser degree this is also true with terrain. Regardless of the methods used, you will eventually see the repetition. The length of time it takes you to see it depends on how many generators and how many parts have been created. But you WILL eventually see it regardless.

I've started a hundred posts like this all over the place and every time I check my facts I'm glad I did. Thanks for owning it. Now get back to Starbound. The universe needs you.

I think the problem here is your understanding of procedurally created content. Everything is handled with algorithms (complex math) everything on one planet has a set of them from the color of the ground to the creatures in them then the string (a number) is applied to all the algorithms . Its this way you can use one number to create the same world every time because every planets algorithm is the same and only the number applied changes. Share the number share the planet. in essence the number is the planet (until they make changes to the game at which time the algorithms may change and poof there goes a new set of planets.

Almost every game that uses random content does it this way now because it saves alot of MB and time creating. instead of a crew of people making a billion planets create an algorithms to do it for you.
