I know that hence why I am complaining about it.

I think the random generation is good.
Sometimes the mobs share some body parts with others which is fine.

I like to collect the dirt from each planet.
I have green, blue, red and brown dirt so far.

There are already infinite planets in this universe. What's the problem here?

    This is beta...

you shouldn't be disappointed about anything yet because nothing has been set in stone yet. If you cant handle the incompleteness of the game in its current state, then wait for the final release before you play again.

I guess nothing really the problem I was just expecting something else

No one ever stated it would be completely random. The procedural universe has been in the works and public knowledge for most of the game's development.

I'm sure they will continue to update and add more variety to the system.

It dose happen. Random is random as they say. Is the monster you keep seeing a slug monster? I think I see that slug foot part more then any other part, but that might be because it's so odd so I notice it when it comes up.

there is nothing wrong with being disappointed I am still enjoying it. I am just stating what I am thinking about it

Did you make this same thread for Terraria? Or the Minecraft Forums? If not, you should.

    You got lucky.

I didn't find a single gun shop, or even a sales person at all, until after I had tier 10 armor and had finished with Sector X. The only gun shop I DID find was using a seed someone else gave me.

    I'd be interested to learn the discernible difference between pseudo-randomness and actual randomness;
Unless the engine that generates the solar systems and planets based on the coordinate seeds is changed at its very core, or another layer of pseudo-randomness is added to create new "galaxies," for no other reason than for every player to have their own galaxies to explore, then the only difference on the user's end is that people can share coordinates within a single "galaxy" without having to have the same seed for the universe they're in.

Exactly. Your complaints with the system comes from you not understanding what random generation actually means. Once a planet is randomly generated it is given a set of coordinates that are unique to it, going to those coordinates will always produce the same planet.

Basically you're disappointed in something (Procedural Generation) because you didn't understand the definition of it?

    I'm disappointed in you.

I personally find a variety of monsters quite often, with seemingly randomly generated figures, color patterns, and abilities. But if the community eventually leans to the side with agreeing its not enough, then all the devs need to do is add more designs, so really its just lack of extra content in an area that the devs shouldn't focus on right now (they need to complete the regular game with its broken parts).

As far as the guns go...we first of all they did recently update the game so champion mobs CAN now drop guns, Avian air ships have vendors for them, and additionally people have mentioned gun finding before and its really just a beta issue. More guns and ways to obtain them should simply come in later beta, so dont worry to much about that.

And I cant even go into how amazed I am by the detail in the randomization generator. I've been to many planets and all of them had unique elements that separated them from the other. (Different villages, different ground blocks, different trees, different backgrounds, random events and random small structures, minibiomes, creatures, chest, ore types and amounts, temperature, different day and night cycles based on location of planet in galaxy (Im not just going crazy right, I swear that happens) so I think your either unlucky, play so much that your seeing alot more at time, or need to wait for the more polishing touches they'll add when the games complete, because I personally think the game is beyond the reasons you gave, atleast as far as what they need to work on for now.
    Polish comes last.
But the community thanks you for your opinion as others may share it.

Hmm I'm not disappointed whit random generated content, well it could be beater there are more important tweaks needed atm. From my point view I would love to see patch with optimization, mobs/enemy AI especially pathing, balancing weapons dunno maybe bit of nerf on higher grade sniper guns and bows ?

really buds really I was expecting post generation not pre generation of the universe. I understand generation what I got was not what I was expecting and I am disappointed in that.
I am not trying to prove my knowledge of anything I am just seeing if anyone else is thinking what I am

I somewhat get where he's coming from :) I asked a hundred questions on chat last night and still don't know if I'm right, but here's what (I think!) I gathered:

*ELEMENTS of our shared universe are random, but generally the things that count will always be there. If I find a planet with tons of nice stuff then I'll always be able to run to that planet every time and OP myself. This is technically true of Minecraft seeds to, difference being that MC seeds are hand-picked/hunted/explored by players after generation to judge their value..

*I asked if, in my universe, I could find a planet that no-one else would be able to find in their universe. Answer is no :p

So pretty much the universe has random elements, and is a product of random generation, but can't be RE-genned by players in any way, which does kind of suck :) As stated above, they basically ran four quadrillion Minecraft seeds for us and tossed the maps around, but we ourselves are not allowed to try our own "seeds".. Its a ton of planets for sure, all of them will probably never be explored, but the CAN be, and the "four-quadrillion-and-oneth planet will never be generated.. My first though, my suggestion anyway, is that eventually we have "the outer sector" that's basically end-game content, and this sector would be empty except for one planet that has some gigantic robo-organic 3D printer that makes PLANETS :> And allow us to store a couple hundred user-created/user-spawned/user-seeded planets in our own personal outer sector :) Sounds amazing to me, anyway, and it'd allow us to play with seeds all day long and report on actual unique/bizarre findings.. As it stands now a "planet compendium" could be created where the playerbase actually makes an attempt to log info about every single available planet, which is cool, but I think I'd rather be able to punch a crazy seed in and KNOW I'm treading ground where no other player has :p

    Thoughts? :)
