This is what I see, at least.

 

Nah, the sense of excitement wouldn't have been anywhere near as great and I couldn't care less about credit for noticing or who "did it first", there's no money or recognition involved there, nobody cares.....I care about what's in store for the game.

 

I'm more curious about what the characters around the edge of the door mean. I wonder if it is simply a translation from English Alphabet... time to break out some cryptanalysis

 

Interesting thing to notice, it does seem like CF created a symbol language for the game and I have no doubt it all means something in english.....but I don't think we'll get anywhere without the key, I wonder if it will be in game either hidden as an easter egg to allow us to discover more lore or as a quest requirement or something......maybe a set of coordinates although I doubt that would work seeing as the players can erase the universe and have the game generate a new universe seed that nobody else has.

Two things I am worried about,number one,whats with the six holes around the starbound symbol is it a boss door or something? Number two can i pick this up and place it in my house,because if i can't me and tiy are gonna have a heated discussion!

My first thought is that this is actually back in time, and the now seen head of an unknown race is the creators of the Glitch.

 

The tentacles in the background look like the tentacles from the alien worlds before Upbeat Giraffe. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for huge, sentient worlds. Like Yivo in "Futurama".

Poor giant tentacle monster, he's just trying to pass her the baton so they can win the 4x4 relay, and she's running away and getting the wrong impression. So misunderstood.

Am I the only one more interested by the cracked arm at the top than the rest of the screenshot?

 

I was just thinking the same thing. Is it attached to something? Also the weird tentacles in the background...

 

I'm more interested in getting the solar system model as a decoration.

Cthulhu's species confirmed as elder race that created the Glitch, gave the Avian's advanced technology, and possible sent the Tentacoment at Earth. Random theorizing here, but maybe after beating your racial boss (Florans on Hylotl planet, Tentacomet, Big Ape, Kluex, etc.) you'll discover how everyone's being manipulated, and Cthulhu/tentacle beast abomination elder god thing will be the final boss, unlocking the tentacle cyclops race to play as after its defeated.

 

I imagine that this is the "huge" art piece that was talked about a while back... and I don't think this is all of it. There may be an entire giant statue/shrine out of the shot. As for the gate/door thing itself, well, there seem to be a few key differences between this and the outpost gate. This one has two humanoid figures in fully enclosed suits reaching out towards the tentacles, as well as the chipped-off face replaced by an eye very similar to the Beast's. I'm a little hesitant to scream out "NEW RACE" right now, though. It seems rather unlikely. In addition, this is the second time we see the runic symbols inscribed around the door, the first being the secret room in the erchius mining facility. The Starbound logo is the main focus of the shot, meaning that it actually has some sort of in-universe significance, which is cool. The six holes around the sunbeams are perplexing. The first thing that came to mind was that there was one for each race, but that can't be it, with the inclusion of the Novakid and the mysterious eyeball. Then it occurred to me- Tiy mentioned that the adventure path would feature some tutorial quests, a final boss quest, and SIX main quests. Perhaps we obtain a shard/key of some sort in each quest and they are used to unlock this gate in the end, unraveling the mystery? I have absolutely no clue. Rampant speculation is fun.
