Interest Check: 18+ Starbound Server (Plans)

Well I for one am very interested in this server! Sign me up ! (not sure if im supposed to apply here? i didnt see an email or anything haha)

I'm seventeen and I like the idea of this server (plus its name sounds cool xP) I've been an avid gamer (not one to rage on people) for like... everyday since i was 5 and uh, yeah. But none the less I do enjoy a more mature crowd.

My favorite part of this whole thread is that every person under 18 thinks they are mature for their age and simply being discriminated against for no reason.

Of course, every single person of a specific age being more mature than their age is logically impossible because they would all still be the same maturity level.

Thats the spirit. Prove your maturity by doing exactly the negative behaviors your age group is being accused of perpetrating.

On topic, I would be delighted to send in an application for this whenever the time arises.

@Ariskelis - The application is not out yet, I'll be creating it on the website so that people can fill it out and submit direct to an Admin email.

As for what's on it, it'll start with basic questions like who your main character will be and what your Starbound forum username is. Your username and Main character names will go on a whitelist roster on the website for easy look up. Then there will be a series of general interview-like questions, so that I get to know a little about you and see how applicants express themselves, which I think is important in determining maturity and intellect. I'm not asking for essays, but truthful thoughtful response, as if the applicant is talking to directly to me (which...essentially they are). Not many of these, I'm thinking like 5 - 10; enough that someone who doesn't care enough won't bother, but long enough it takes a few minutes of effort. Then just contact info so I can email an invitation with the server address and stuff. I'll also ask if you'd like to be put on a mailing list for server notices and decisions (if the server shuts down or if there's a plugin people have suggested get installed on the server).

I'm absolutely serious about this application. If someone can't take 30 minutes to give meaningful serious responses to a few questions then I'm not sure I want that person on the server. :/ If we get a cool permission set with the beta, I'd allow Guests to come in and talk to the community and chat and stuff, while not being allowed to interact with the environment. I don't know what permissions we'll have though, so to play it safe, pretend there's no guest access for now.

So.. I am totally up for this. Surprisingly the most mature server I know on minecraft had mostly 8 year olds. As long as rules are enforced, I dont think there will be any major issues.

 

I like the idea of a more mature server, so sign me up.

I'd also like to add, and I'm not trying to be combative in saying this, that people posting negatively in this thread are forgetting something pretty basic. This guy is offering to pay for a server, that people will be able to play on for free. He'll be using his free time to maintain it, screen applicants, ensure quality, etc. The way I see it, if he's going to pay for, and put that kind of effort into, a server, he should be able to set any rules he wants.

 

Sometimes I just like to hear the voices inside my head a few octaves lower than normal.

So how we know this server comes online? Do we get a reminder here on the thread? You gonna send a PM to every person that wants to join? Wil there be applications and a website?
