Interest Check: 18+ Starbound Server (Plans)

Don't worry about being introverted. I am too! VERY introverted. And I write so much more than I talk. It's good to know I won't be the only one. Hopefully, a respectful, mature community will be easier for us to ease into and enjoy.

 

I like to look of this.

You have caught my interest and when applications open you may get an application from me.

 

I shouldn't at all be surprised that I haven't seen this sooner, I've only been back on this site for about a week, and didn't exactly check the entire forum out thoroughly. You've caught the attention of another probable Drifter, though I couldn't say for sure whether that'll remain the case or not; the future is a tricky direction to see properly. Here's hoping this works out for all involved.

 

I'd be interested in a server like this for sure. I generally play with a few friends but enjoy playing with many more players at the same time. I'd even consider making your guideline 21 or 22+ because 18 is still high school and they're less mature now than they've been in the past. Plus I've been there and 18 isn't any more mature than 13 when it comes to gaming. Obviously there are outliers like you say but riasing the guidleine age can't hurt.

 

I like this idea but I'll keep it 18+ for now. If someone's 18, 16, or 96 and acting immaturely, they won't last on the server, so I'm not too worried. The age restriction is half a rating for content and half an age requirement in the hopes of getting us some mature people. I totally get what you're saying though. I know 18 year olds are still really young. I'm 23 and looking back, I can already see how far I've come! But we'll see how this all plays out. I think it's more so looking to have a personal interest/bond with people your age. For example: Older gamers with children seem to get along. Where a parent who games may not want to be around gamers close the the age of their own children. Also, some people may want to have a conversation that may include content they aren't comfortable using around younger gamers. I don't think it's a matter of disliking children.

I mean really what 14 year old honestly wants to hang out with an adult?

 

Seems like a good idea. I myself just turned 20 so I might look into this more in the future. Thank you for caring about the older members on the forums =)

 

There is kids around this age that do, I have a friend who has just turned 16 and he is way too mature for his age he acts almost like a 30yr old and is thankfully one of my best friends......If I remember rightly he also intends to apply for a spot on this server as soon as applications go live, he is VERY creative some of his designs I have seen him do on Minecraft (Fort/house designs) have blown my mind and he would be a fantastic asset to a server like this.

 

Hah, well I am female and maybe it's a "girl" thing but I remember being 14 (wasn't too long ago only 26) and not wanting to be near any adults. Ever. At all.

Also, I am totally okay with playing with younger people. I am just understanding that some people don't and that is fine because some people like apples and some like oranges.

 

I hope this won't be the only server of it's type, with all the mature people here, it is going to fill up fast!

Considering joining since I'm 30 and am really looking to play with people closer to my age.

 

Almost all the people here, who are over the age of 18 act like children most of the time.
Including me, actually.

We play video games.. If that doesn't scream child at heart I don't know what does. I don't think you're seeing the big picture here, everyone I know on these forums over 18 are pretty mature.

 

I agree with you, most people over 18 are for the most part mature to an extent but just because we play video games does not imo scream child at all to me it screams hobby or a way to pass the time of day etc... but I guess it comes down to how often each person plays games to define them between hardcore or passive, does a hardcore player come across as more immature than a passive one ?

I guess its a topic that could go round and round till the ends of time, thank god for the application service that deepclaw will be providing its a very much needed screening process but also it does not stop there the screening process will continue on the server as well so I think all in all we can expect a top quality server for everyone to enjoy.

 

I meant "child at heart" as we are youthful spirits, so while we are older we still like to have fun. I would definitely consider myself a hobby gamer as I have a job and bills to pay, but I also like to unwind and get my game on when I get home.

Oh man, color me interested. This has been the first thing worth posting on since I made my account last year.
I'm 17 and (for the most part) in charge of a Pathfinder (D&D) continent that I have created with my friends and family. I'm also planning to go to school for architecture. This sort of no nonsense interaction on a game that I've been waiting a year and 1/2 for is too good to pass up.
I hate to assume that I have the level of maturity you're looking for, but I'd absolutely love to contribute to this in any way I can. Whether that is with the economy, culture, or straight up building and designing.
