Interacting with in game characters (NPCs (?))

    I'm not as knowledgeable on the whole starbound front, however was wondering in the game that I have played so far I have come across two characters (assuming NPCs right?):unsure: with their own house was wondering if they are just there, or can I interact with them?

    I tried interacting somehow and it just said don't kill me..so decided not to do anything any further...They both did die in the end though :cry:
