Intense permanent fog, rain, sand storm, etc.

Its a good idea, but how would we use the DNA?

I have to say that I like the more intense ambient things like fog/rain and the like could be interesting. Though I would think that on the perpetual/highly fog areas, you could use something that emits heat to disperse the fog in a distinct radius.

you should aso place a limit on some of these planets soo you can try and build higher past the fog ;D

The fog itself (at least in real life) would normallysettle lower to the ground, which means that you could get a rather interesting scenery with mountain peaks towering above valleys filled with fog.

would be nice to see imagine a fortress in the fog... guarded by your defenses

I'll give a bump to this ! And quote everything of the main OP !

Fog would also add some nice atmosphere =)

    I would definitely like this.
I'm on a desert planet right now, and it's incredibly dull. Sand doesn't whip up and blow in the wind. Bushes and trees don't sway. Storms don't happen. It's just constant, DULL stillness.

sounds amazing, I can imagine trying to push myself against heavy rain with lighting everywhere and trees shaking, or maybe dense fog, where everything is dark and i can barley see, but at the same time, these planets would be more challenging, but i think they should be optional and not be required to get further in the game, but maybe to just get further, faster, like have crazy epic loot that would be hard to get to...

i would absolutely love this to be added to the game! Also suggestion to this suggestion: using a light source of some sort would let you be able to see just a bit further in the fog/sandstorm. c:

There could be a quest about some one with a machine makeing the fog, snow or sand to stop a town from growing.

I'm all about more weather for planets! Especially of the foggy types, could be interesting mechanics.

But the whole DNA thing seems really weird. How could DNA have an effect on Oxygen? And how could that make you better able to survive on harsh planets?
I don't think that having to find the "alpha males" of the creatures would be necessary. Just having to collect from more than one perhaps?

I for one think this has incredible potential both to add depth to exploration and as a potential boon to quests. It also can be tied into several other suggestions on the forum, like adding a note in the navigation menu about a perpetual storm or say having the weather be part of an optional quest. I like the idea of having a planet or planets where the constant violent weather makes it so that some kind of unique resource is only obtainable there and it isn't required to advance the story but is extremely useful, like some sort of user potion that needs an ingredient that only grows on planets with a thick fog because it needs constant moisture and deteriorates somehow in direct sunlight.

DNA could have produced a mutation that allows for better usage or Oxygen gained or something of that sort. And it could also say over time produce a mutation/trait that lets you survive easier on a harsh planet (maybe something to counteract extreme cold/heat/etc).
