I don't know if this is already possible mechanic of the AI considered by the Devs, or if this suggestion was posted or not. (I REALLY hope a trading mechanic has already been posted ) My suggestion would be that if you land on a planet with intelligent alien life, they would be cautious, friendly, or aggressive towards you, depending on their nature (An aggressive species would Automatically be "Aggressive" towards you, for example. Their level of friendliness would also be influenced by the tech they have, compared to you. (For example, if you are far superior to them in terms of tech, they would most likely try and befriend you) Cautious: They will not attack you, but will defend themselves when necessary. Trade with this species usually requires you to give a little more to them than the equivalent of what they will give you. Trading with a "Cautious" species will slowly make them "Friendly" towards you. Freely giving them technologies will make them more "friendly" faster. Attacking an army base or civilians will automatically make the species "aggressive" towards you. (Unless you are in an arena, with harmless weapons) Attacking criminals and turning them in to the police will give you pixels and better relations with the species) Aggressive: Species that are "Aggressive" Will attack you upon detection (Not upon SIGHT, there may be ways to sneak around Aggressive species) Aggressive species are at "War" with you. You can negotiate from you Starship to make peace with them. Enemy hostilities will decrease spawn rate as you kill more of them. If you kill more of the particular gender, spawn rate will decrease. If all of a particular gender is eradicated, the Spawn rate falls to 0. If all of a Species is killed, then that species is gone. All negotiations are not able to be selected. Once you leave the planet, that species is gone, and you will NOT be able to get any more DNA samples. With DNA samples (Given that you have the correct tech), you can recreate a species, and repopulate them. (They will prosper or die depending on what kind of planet they are put on ex: Humid planet, Dry planet, planets with certain chemicals in the air) You can recruit army members from any of the members of your species found. Friendly: Species that have a "Friendly" rating towards you will not attack you, and you cannot attack them (except in special arenas, and criminals). They will give you things occasionally, as a sign of their friendship. They will trade fairly, and you can ask them to help you fight "Aggressive" Species, if they too do not like them. If you have a good enough relation with them, you can form Alliances, in which you combine Production, technology, etc. You can make this permanent as well, although this would take extreme amounts of trust. If you TRY and attack the innocent population, a Small GUI will pop up, indicating "Do you really want to declare war?" If you click yes, the word of war will get around relative to the speed of the tech they have, and attack you in numbers depending on that factor. EDIT: Perhaps This could take some sort of effect on multiplayer? Between factions?.... TIME TO TYPE Multiplayer: This could take some sort of effect on multiplayer, Like diplomacy between clans. There would be some leader in a clan that could trade with another clan for pixels, products, and tech. (There could be alliances as well, so they if a clan attacked a clan with a Alliance, BOTH clans would be at war.) This is like the Minecraft Factions.
This reminds me a lot of the mechanic in the ANNO series of games. It works in the same exact way, where people are cautious until you A) Attack them, Offer trade. Very similar. I love the war idea as well. As a Gillian, I will declare war on the Glunaughts.
As much as i said i don't want races to be erased if you Declare war On Nirn's race the Glunaughts we will have no choice but to wipe you off of the multiverse
Its got my support more or less cause civilizations are awesome~ If they do give tribes, races, planets that sorta tag, I think it would be a great addition. Just think of it, diplomacy in a sandbox
Of course, during war-time, Species may try, on the verge of extinction, try to squeeze their way out by Diplomacy.
Well yeah, no doubt~ If survival is important to them, or unless they're crazy fanatics who believe their god will smite all those who oppose them and therefore, in a zealous rage, throw themselves at their enemies
I was thinking a segregated race of aliens in one of the books i've read, where they think that humanity is a blight in the universe and must be eradicated. But we had allies, and deflected a large portion of their army. The whole war was pretty much thanks to a powerful part of the alien race that pretty much controlled the other segments.
When I read this I was reminded of Spore once your species is sentient. All around a good idea though!
I mostly like that idea except that you can't attack a friendly species at all. Isn't it the best to just creep all their trust and then just suddenly assault their settlements?
I'm not entirely sure how the AI will work. But I have played Spore and I believe AI like that is good enough for how other creature and alien alike will act. Spore creatures (DS) had AMAZING Music!
