Tutorial Installing mods for Starbound 1.0

thank you very much. it took me a while to figure it out and i'm happy to say that the mod I wanted is FINALLY working. thank you for all your help!

 

Is this information even still current? I've yet to see a downloaded file with '.modpak' anywhere in it.

 

Download my RadioactiveMetals, CompactCrops or PestControl and you'll get a modpack file. Still valid. >.>

 

'tis cuz most simple mods are too small to benefit from compressing.
Another reason is a lot of modders are too lazy to repack their releases.
And the third, uncommon reason: Some modders think of other modders, keeping the files unpacked so they're easier to access. Probably just another way to say "I'm too lazy" tho.

 

Not interested in any of those. The closest thing the mod I'm trying to install has is '.modinfo'

 

Thats the subfolder then, just copy the whole folder that contains this .modinfo file in your mods directory.

What I do wrong?

 

Check if there's a .modinfo in that creativemod folder.
If there isn't, take a look in the folder that's in the creativemod folder, if there's a modfile in it you have one subdirectory too much.

 

Another such modfile I have not found.

 

Make sure you meet this folderstructure.
I'm sure somewhere in your CreativeMode folder is a .modinfo, you should copy the folder containing the .modinfo in your mod-root directory.

If that's a file you created just put the following lines into it:

"name" : "CreativeMode"
"path" : "."
}

I repacked the whole mod to make it as easy as possible to install it.

If it gives an error you should post your starbound.log, found in your /giraffe_storage/ folder.
Please pay attention you follow those guidelines:

1. Post the content in a spoiler tag or attach the file
2. The file is displayed as starbound textfile on default
3. It's the one without a number attached (starbound.log, not starbound.log2/3/4/5)
