Insomnia event thoughts.

Disclaimer: Please if this breaks the guidelines about no beta topics then lock this thread, but this thread is more about my thoughts on people saying that the beta will not come out until after the insomnia event.

Okay so, for a while i had thought, along with a lo of other people, that the beta would not come out until the end of the Insomnia Starbound showcase, but now that progress on the beta seems to be very close to finishing (as of the july 18th update) im starting to think that we may receive beta sometime in august, and the Insomnia showcase will actually be an exclusive look at the MAIN QUEST of the game, so basically the 'finished version'. Thoughts on this?

 

But it'd still be nice to get some sort of confirmation. If anything at least, one of them saying whether or not, if they actually DO finish Starbound (at least beta quality) before Insomnia, will the people who preorder the game actually get to play it or will they delay the release of beta until after Insomnia without consideration of the game's completeness?

they have stated that insomnia will not hold back the release of the beta, if its done before insomnia its out before insomnia

 

true, there still could be a lot left to code in, but my guess for september is starting to move to a possible mid august. Anyway the point is maybe the Insomnia "EXCLUSIVE" showcase will be first look at main story

 

Could you link where that was said for me, since I haven't seen it despite my Starbound Lurking™? That said, that makes me happy and more hopeful for an august release (I wouldn't be surprised if it's done late august, early september, especially at their apparent rate).

Confirmation from the Dev Team themselves is what I'm thinking.

Basically, without making any promises, if it turns out that the game feels good enough, are they willing to let loose the wolves? Or do they honestly want to wait until the Insomnia event itself? Or, are they simply just waiting to see how things go, themselves?

I'm fine either way. I think most of us are. It's just that after the July 18th update (saying almost every major feature is done), it would be nice to know what to expect from this point, right? I think what the OP asks is reasonable and has nothing to do with any "where's beta" crap.

 

I would rather wait for beta release guessing release without enough evidence or insider knowledge is just pointless.

I'm sorta hoping the developers will shock us with beta out of nowhere left field before the event. They do like to play around a little and could always be saving it as a surprise for us. Then at the demonstration have some of the release features ready to showoff. I do know that its not likely with npcs/randomquests still needing work, but as I said - just a mild hope.

 

From the updates I'm expecting late August. I'm then adding a month to what I expect because I'm probably wrong. I was absolutely wrong way back in May when I thought it'd come out in June. So late September then is my new guess. But I'm still hoping for August.

 

I really hope their "soon" is not a long time.

Actually, didn't Tiy say that quests were not something he wanted to need to include into Beta? So assuming they focus on the minor things while doing the quests along the side, Beta could be not that far away. But I have a feeling all major features, including quests, will be done anyway.

 

im pretty sure that its main quests, like the story line, that wont be included in beta
