Info About Whats Left to be Done in the Game Released

Keep in mind that the reason the game seems like it's "taking so long" is because they had to make it public long before they wanted to.
Most games seem like they take so little time to finish because they are announced several months before the game is done,
not like SB that had to be announced at its early stages in development.

 

I believe that it is already planned that ship to ship battle and that sort of stuff is on hold until after release. As for racial ship I dont know but I would like to have my Floran ship when I start the game.

 

Sounds like game needs a lot of freaking work still! End of 2013 it is then.

 

That's why I actually put some thought into a good estimation. I say September is entirely possible. The pessimism here really is unbelievable.

 

I got that, it's been said a few times. My issues were not with the game not being released, they were with the lack of actual information. This is actual information. Nothing irks me more than silence. I know there's been some streams, pictures of what's in the game, etc. But nothing about what was left to do, and when an estimation comes and passes it does so silently. I've prefaced this each time i've said it, but i don't care if an estimation is not met; that's why it's called an estimation. I only hate when it does so with no information. I'm happy we finally got some insight on what's left to do. I've also said in another topic that if the interactive "road map" was not going to be showing up anytime soon it'd be nice to just get in text what's left to do. So regardless of how my post may have come across i'm happy Tiy finally said something on the topic. It put to ease a lot, and gave me something to give my friends who also want to play the game but are losing faith in it. Each time they ask me "anything new in starbound?" i can only ever tell them "nope". Now i can actually give them some info.

 

Actually, considering that the larger parts of Starbound is done, I'm thinking more along the lines of this summer.

So the roadmap of things that needs to be done, is it going to be for the devs or is it going to be public?

I think it'd be really nice if it was public, it'd soothe a lot of people's nerves to see the progress being made, will definitely make it feel quicker than without it.

Some friends of mine liked Terraria very much after I showed them the game, and they easily fell for it. Now I told them about this awesome space game developed by Terraria's gfx guy and they were hella excited

While I personally, like most of you, would like the game to come up as soon as possible, maybe the fact that it's taking longer it's good because the more complete it is, the harder you get bored.

Anyway, keep up the good work!

 

The roadmap is intended to show the community what has to be done before beta is launched, and what will then be done to get the game ready for full release. Or, that's how it was originally explained at least.

 

My opinion on everything release related is, "Don't rush a good thing."

Thanks a ton for all of this information, it really helps us know what they have completed and helps us out with waiting because we ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING.

My prediction on the release date? I'd say around the beginning of Summer just because Chucklefish is a hardworking group of amazing people who are determined to get this done.

Also, I'm very impressed with what I've seen from last March until now, quality work. My prediction could however be terribly wrong since I know nothing about coding and such (But would really like to) Could be a bit later! Thanks to this post, waiting is now easier.

You know I wonder if one of the Glitch heads could be based off of the Geth from ME... that'd be a neat shoutout.

 

Starbound will be worth it's wait in GOLD.

From all I've gathered from this info, Starbound should be released approximately around... when it's done.
