Info about the upcoming patch!

I hope the update will include server side characters, because that is the only thing that annoys me a bit, it ruins any sense of progression in multiplayer for me if I am playing with people that then go off on another server and or single player and max everything out and then join a the server again with their now buffed char, should be server option if you ask me, but no news on it?

 

I just checked and there's no option like for humans. I checked both male and female and went through every top and bottom option and none of them change color when press the "undy" button.

This is an issue but the hacking and modding is out of control and makes it even worse. People on my server don't even play the game. They just hack in armor with bogus stats that give them god mode and let them kill other players with one attack when they shouldn't even be able to hurt other players in the first place. They even make weapons that spam projectiles at insane rates which drops the framerate of anyone near them (which is usually spawn) and eats up server memory and spikes the CPU usage.

This seriously needs to be addressed officially by the devs, not some shoddy server wrapper. Multiplayer is in a terrible state right now due to all the modding and hacking. It's made even worse when you get a dedicated troll because when you ban people, they can easily unban themselves since this game doesn't use a global account system and, instead, just lets you make however many characters you want and since they're not tied to a unique account (like in Minecraft) people can just change their IPs and use a new character. Or make a character with 30 digits for a name...


Anything about these problems in the update?... Will Multiplayer finally be a functional environment?

well once the char wipes are gone I can finally make my char pretty with no penalty xD

 

They blink when they sleep? I did not know that and now that I do, I don't think I would want it changed. At least make it optional so I can use it as a small but interesting (and a little creepy) addition to my back story.

 

I would have to agree with this, and this is one of the ways they could make serverside characters, if they were account bound or something, but when you log into a server with serverside characters enabled it would use the chars saved on the server rather then 'local', would say modding should be allowed, though yeah the hacking needs to go, too many griefers out and about, there needs to be some kind of verification process for characters and mods alike.

 

Hey Molly and devs, I'd like to address a problem...

I know Starbound is in a beta stage, but there seems to be a lack of lemons in the game.
Of course I can mod lemons into it, but it's like having to mod mushrooms into super mario... I'd like to have lemons in the vanilla, without the need of mods!
Are there plans to add them in this next patch?

oh by the way, one thing I do hope they add in this patch, a delete key for characters, so you can delete chars without having to go out and do it in the folder manually...

i am very excited for this update. i will take sick satisfaction in doing it all again.
125 hours playtime and counting. this game ticks all my boxes and its rly exciting to see it grow! congrats guys, kep it coming

 

Maybe I missed it, but besides the overdue memory leak fix for the server there are no more additions like spawn protection, admin commands or anything, am I right?

 

I really hope they fix the four songs too, which cause the game to close.

Big thanks to the team for putting so much effort into this update. You do better than a lot of big dev teams of 100+ employees, it's amazing!

 

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. I'm not worried about my characters being wiped, since I've been lately focusing on modding, where I'm frequently wiping my own characters and worlds, which I frequently create in order to test out new things, to remove clutter.
