Info about the upcoming patch!

If they add a biome, make it an oceanic planet biome. Also, there are a few glitches in the world gen, Planets that turn up on the scanner as one biome are actually predominantly another at spawn.

 

Hopefully, I tried singing once and my universe imploded (game crash)

 

I hope they release the patch by tomorrow night. I would love to do some gaming over the weekend, av would others.
*fingers crossed it updates when i get home form work.

 

Why would you play a game so early on if you weren't ready for things to be wiped. I see your not a very smart person for ignoring the "Expect Wipes!!!!"

 

There are ways of adding content, without having to do a FULL wipe. (Exp. Patches ..)

I think you misunderstand me. I'm not requesting any special privileges, nor am I suggesting I'm entitled. I'm just merely "voicing" my frustration. I'm providing feedback.
It's okay if you don't agree with me. Good or bad, the dev's want to hear from everyone.

Yea, you're frustrated over 2 wipes early in beta.

My friend, you don't go into a project like this and not know how to minimize wipes. This game has been in development since 2012, my expectations were to high. I am guilty of that

 

I heard about wipes (period) and have NEVER built a single structure :> Because I am that guy who'll get emotionally attached to a building/structure I've fine-tuned and gone over multiple times making improvements For now, I'm pretending that I'm not even allowed to place blocks on a planet's surface except for the express purpose of making a bridge or covering poison :> I've been "living" on my ship, or at best in little dirt cubes

At this advanced point, if my Terraria saves went corrupt I'd crap a Chlorophyte brick With Starbound, I accept these wipes, and I'm still not ruling out the prospect of unexpected future wipes or save corruption (as I said waaay back on page two or three, promising no more wipes is a grand and noble gesture, but the inherent random nature of the world generally forbids ironclad promises).. Now isn't the time to expect too much, and the fact that people are expecting this grand stability, that people are placed under the impression that the game is advanced and polished enough that these things shouldn't happen, is in itself a sign that things are already heading in the right direction..

 

Okey, 3 wipes, shame on them.

When the game comes out however, that's when people can complain about wipes.

No prob bud. Sorry you're getting flamed as much as you are. I think there is a difference between what you said and the typical people who come here to P&M about wipes. Being that you actually put some thought into why they happen.

Well I probably should have stressed more that we play for entertainment, and that our enjoyment does mean something, after all. I'm not a nihilist. I just think it's silly when people criticize sandbox games and say there is 'no point'. Sandbox games such as this have an extremely subtle point, one that is often missed by people who crave structure in video games. Personally, I don't think sandbox games such as this need stories at all; instead I think they should stress personalization and interaction between both environment and players. Stories run games like this thin. I've never played it, but I think garrys mod would be a good example? Theres no story (as far as I know), and infinite customization. Just to add, Minecraft died when Notch added that stupid ending, and the stupid dragon final boss. It novelized a game that was never meant to be like that. I don't want to rant, but I just hope that doesn't happen to this game. I think they should keep any story as a mere suggestion, and let players interaction with the environment and eachother 'write their own story'.

 

I think if I remember correctly that I heard the Hyotl villages will be underwater- that's why we haven't seen any yet!

So there will probably be largely Oceanic Planets for the Hyotl to live on (and scuba gear for us not-Hyotls! )

BTDubs: Does anyone know when the patch is out for certain yet? I just got Starbound for my Girlfriend, but I don't see any point in her playing for two days and getting everything wiped.

 

I like driving the jeep! I just wish you could see the driver's face easier, 'cause right now there's a bit of the car in the way.

 

You can't possibly have the jeep yet, that thing is supposed to be added in this update.
