Closed Infinite Rope Hook!

So the new update released the one time use grapple ropes. They are supposed to disappear once you jump off them BUT if you swap to another item you can use the one rope forever. Not a game crashing bug but it's still a cheap one.

 

I actually just used a climbing rope for the first time, and was VERY disappointed to notice that they are single-use items. I was hoping for a rope that could be attached to the background or foreground that would pretty much act like a ladder.

With the current ropes.. WHY are they single-use? Why do they vanish? are they so cheaply made that they break? the cost in iron to have a useful number of these things early in the game is prohibitive.
