    I could modify the GUI to add an extra slot or two, but I don't know where the code from there goes. I could probably look into it, though.

    wait, could you set up multi-smelting, like, smelt multiple things at the same time, and such?

    Typically that's what I do too, I rarely build a homeplanet. I just never really knew you could farm on your ship, until now.

    If the game accepts two slots with the input tag both as inputs, then yes, it could be possible. I haven't tested it, though.

    You have to at least be near it for it to grow.

    You also need enough clearance over it.

    Yeah so I tested it and my game crashed. It's probably possible, I just don't know where the files are that determine what items input and output when you craft something.

    Yes, the server and all the players have to have it loaded.

    I've done this and whenever i drop an item into world it is removed instantly

    That's because it's not possible. :)

    Are you the host of the server? / Has the host installed the mod?

    I do have an idea for the energy system, though I'm not familiar enough with the lua environment to know if its possible. Someone with more knowledge can comment.

    If we can tell what was connect via wires, we could leverage that for energy.
    Assuming the power sink knows what its connected to, it could poll every 1s say. If the energy source is on (true) it adds that power.
    This is dependent on knowing what you are connected to.

    Failing that the only other way I could think of would be to send digital signals through the wires. A gross prospect, but theoretically viable.

    An idea for multismelting might be to make a "blender" machine that combines 2 ores. The rough side of this would involve dusts for each new ore, and more manual work.
    One of the upcoming changes was to make NPCs aware of what in their chests, and that can probably be leveraged for some portion of this as well.

    Energy systems aren't possible currently...

    A blender? You mean for combining the ores? That would be feasible as a crafting recipe, I suppose.

    So it would seem. It appears, to me at least, that you have to AT LEAST be on the same planet for your plants to grow.
