In YOUR opinion, the best race?

sorry, i usually take pains to ensure i include them so my non-seriousness is unquestionable. i guess i was just in too much a hurry to get the joke out, and forgot.

but just in case, always read my posts in the voice of microsoft sam (or some other similar "emotionless" text to speech utility.) all of my posts, even the serious ones. i'm told it makes me a lot more tolerable ;D

Avians. They're the only race that isn't a clear ripoff of any one other thing (they're vaguely Egyptian though.) They seem shallow until you play as one and start examining Avian stuff.

And of course, when you play Avian, you are the most badass atheist.



My least favorite is human. Their sprites suck, they currently have little to no backstory, and they are just plain boring compared to the exotic and impractical alien races.

 

Somehow I don't think this is very representative of the Hylotl race. I've only met a few Hylotls, but they remind me heavily of human "social justice bloggers" and less fools who think themselves to be gods.

 

Mayans with a touch of the Aztec, not Egyptian in the slightest.

 

Other than worshiping Ra and all that.

 

Given that it was either the Mayans or Aztecs (I forget which, both were hardcore in their devotions) would sacrifice people to the Sun God for hopes of a better harvest, it makes sense that it's more of the Mayan/Aztec influence and not Egyptian. Hell, they would sacrifice newly wedded couples as a form of celebration. The altars and steps leading up to them were often soaked with blood to the point that red may as well have been the color of the top of the pyramids.

 

I agree that sacrifice is not an Egyptian thing at all (we can barely even find any instances of it) and is heavily connected to the Aztecs. I was probably misled by most of the lore being fairly ambiguous, and I know the Aztecs did not sacrifice people by throwing them off of gigantic towers.

(Side note: The Aztecs also sacrificed what we now call tamales...)

Ra, you see, IS A BIRD GOD OF THE SUN. Hence when I saw "birds that worship the sun" I instantly thought of Ra.

 

When Megatron educates you on how wrong you are about a deity in an ancient culture, you know you need to brush up on your knowledge just a little.

 

He didn't educate me on shit. I explained why I initially thought the Avians were Egyptian. I was already proven wrong.

But apparently I don't get to decide what I thought at a given point in time and why.

 

It was a joke, albeit a poor one perhaps, but still no need to get all hostile.

it's not really about wrong or right. there are too many sun-god-birds to list conveniently. the ones that dont turn into birds are kinda outside the norm.
