Its most likely already posted somewhere I didn't find but here I go anyway: I find it very irritating to die on a huge planet, 10 minutes of dashing in the same direction, having to then start the painful trek again just to reach the other end. I think there should be one of the two solution implanted: 1. Aboard the ship, option to hover left or right per "quadrants" around the planets kinda divided in equal sections (e.g.: split in 24 quadrant / hours) so you can beam down a little all over the place, not always at the same spot. Of course, at the cost of coal to move the ship around. 2. More accessible idea: a simple beacon for surface landing. Becomes the way-point for beaming down on the planet. A very costly upgrade could even transmit through a certain amount of layers in the ground for the underground base enthusiasts like me. It would be limited to end game stuff for the underground beacons of course. Anyway, any comments, suggestions to improve? Anybody thinks like me?
You're right that the second idea makes more sense.. Beacon, the base is already there, a UFO already comes to the call, why not tweak it into a personal encrypted beacon device
I think that, with some tweaking, the first idea would be best for the game. It's definitely more realistic to choose where on the planet you land. The developers have already stated that you will eventually be able to scan a planet and view the settlements and dungeons on it, it doesn't really make sense that there is only one spot on the planet that you can beam down to. Edit: I should be more clear: It seems more realistic to be able to choose where you land without any special beacon, as you already land in the exact same place without a beacon. Perhaps if, when landing without a beacon, the spot you land at is chosen at random, then a beacon would make more sense.
