So, i'm not sure where this should go, but I have a question. Since you can walk all the way around a planet, does time change depending on where you are? or is it the same time on all sides of the planet? Basically are there time zones you can walk through?

This... poses a relatively interesting question, actually. I would suppose it would be up to how the devs feel like handling it, but it would be neat if it functioned that way.

It's possible that you aren't taking a path parallel to the planet's equator, actually. Could easily be going on a polar trajectory around the planet.

Alternately, you aren't actually walking all the way around the planet, but you're instead circling something else, like a mountain or a crater.

  4. That is certainly a no, the day/night cycle is likely to be on the planet globally, it's pretty complex make it be realistic when you walk all around the planet. But it's hardly something we will notice at all.

This is a very good point, there are many ways to explain this away. While it would be interesting if the trajectory was generated semi-randomly. Some planets it's closer to polar, some planets it's closer to the equator. A random number of degrees away from the equator, from -180 to 180.

There'd probably be quite a bit of math, and it could look weird if the planet's diameter is something relatively small.

Hmmm hard to say but it's an interesting thought

Pretty sure time of day will happen all around the planet.

    This.

The current situation is that it is always the same, but well you never know what future patches will bring. Especially because it got suggested many times already to add such a day/night cycle depending on your location.

Yeah, time of day will almost certainly be the same throughout the whole planet. That said, the devs mentioned that not every planet has the same timescale. In other words, some planets will have long days with short nights, long days and nights, only night, or things like that.

Oh man. It would have been awesome if you could like dig a hole through an entire planet, and just just through to make infa-day or infa-night. I don't know, can you even dig a hole like that?

I doubt it highly, interesting concept but really doubt it will be in game. I am sure some one will mod that.

The planet will likely have the same day/night cycle all around. I doubt it would matter much.
